I'm having a problem getting my magic jack to be recognized by my computer on boot up. First, I would like to say, I have had my magic jack for approximately three weeks and have had very good luck with it. My issues have been very minimal and easy to solve. Up until now.
Here's my Problem.
My magic jack is not recognized by my computer on boot up. When I restart my computer I get the little and soft image Dongle that says: " warning you must plug magic jack into USB."
Here is the sequence of events that led up to this.
Yesterday I decided I was going to move a magic jack to the USB Port on the front of my computer. I clicked on icon in system tray to safely remove devices from the USB.
Transferred magic jack to USB Port on the front of computer, and made telephone calls without any problems with the transfer of the magic jack to the front.
Last night we had a power outage for about 3 seconds that shut down my computer. It was late so I just went to sleep and left the computer shut down. When I picked up the phone this morning to use it, there was no Dialtone. I checked the system tray... no magic jack Icon, and there was no icon in the system tray to safely remove magic jack from USB Port either. However magic BLOCK was running.
I restarted my computer two see if the reboot would reinitiate magic jack... No go.
I removed the magic jack and put it back in the USB Port on the rear of my computer where it worked for the last three weeks. Rebooted my computer and still no magic jack.
I realize removing Magic Jack without having an icon in the system trade to safely remove it can be potentially damaging. I'm not really worried about the magic jack Dongle being damaged because I purchased it through Radio Shack and bought a one year warranty, so if all else fails in troubleshooting and solving the problem here, that I have my warranty with Radio Shack and can get it replaced. But before I go through that trouble I'd like to see if you smart people can help me out getting the problem solved here.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I'm not really a lunatic, I just tell people that because it keeps them off my grass. |
