On Pentium4 with XPpro
I opened and kept open task manager and showed all processes during
this experiment.
I plugged in MagicJack and during the MJ Loader routine the Kasperskyavp.exe process started consuming 97-99% of the CPU's resources.
Obviously the computer slowed to a snails pace. It is a wonder it didn't
crash.
The MagicJack process showed very little CPU consumption or none at
all.
I unplugged MagicJack and the avp.exe returned to a 0 to < 10% CPU
consumption level.
I am almost computer illiterate but this experiment leads me to believe
that Magic Jack has some F**ked up loader program embeded on it's
chip. Most people would think and I am no exception that since Kapersky
avp.exe was consuming practically all the CPU's resources that that
would be the problem. My experiment proves that Magic Jack is the culprit.
I would also like to add that if I wait a long time MagicJack loads with
error messages 3 and 9. I pause my internet security, open the registration page which displays nothing and hit cancel and Magic Jack is
in business....and works really well until I shut down or reboot my
computer.
Anyones thought on this???
My electronic conversation with MAGIC JACK follows:
Jacqueline: Hello, how may I help you?
Peter : MagicJack causes my avp.exe to consume all cpu resources

It seems that Kaspersky is trying to figure out what to do with a new device that wants to install a resident program on your computer.
You have two options. You can disable Kaspersky during the MJ installation process (I think there is a comment to that effect in the installation instructions, but I don't remember.) or you can sit and wait for Kaspersky to do its due diligence and ask you if it is permissible to install this program.
p.s. I don't think calling Immigration will help you to deport a Filipina within her own country. I know it won't help you understand your PC better. |
