I have recently received numerous PMs regarding spoofer troubles. This is an attempt to list the most common problems and their solutions. In many cases, I don't have an answer; if you have a solution for a specific spoofer problem, please post it here.

Q. How can I find the version I want to download?
A. My old command line based spoofer (in perl) is still in the original spoofing thread. All GUI versions were authored by others. AFAIK, none of their links were deleted or modified by admins or moderators. If a link has been updated by the author to point to a newer version, you should contact him, if you need an older one.

Q. Although the spoofer shows the desired caller ID, there is no audio. How can I fix that?
A. The newer versions of MJ do not send RTP packets, when the proxy IP resolves to the host on which MJ is running. AFAIK there is not yet a fix. You can either downgrade to the 071221 version, or run the spoofer on a different PC. I believe that if your router handles hairpinning correctly, there may be a fix; see this thread http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/defective-jack-please-contact-support-t1937.html for details.

Q. Why doesn't it spoof?
A. Make a test call to 712-580-9999. If you hear the MJ number, the spoofer is not in the path. Verify that your hosts file is redirecting the proxy that your MJ is accessing. Use Wireshark to tell. If the test call spoofs correctly, but calls to landlines or cell phones do not, try an alternate dialing pattern, e.g. dial 212-867-5309 as *672*128675309 . Or, if the destination number is in the area code you are spoofing, try dialing the last seven digits, followed by ***.

Q. Why won't my ATA register, even though my settings are all correct?
A. Sorry, I don't know. Use Wireshark to see if REGISTER requests are being received by the spoofer, if they are being forwarded to the correct proxy IP and port, if responses are being returned from the proxy, and if they are forwarded to the ATA's IP and port. Once you know which step is going wrong, it should not be hard to see what needs to be changed.

just got your pm i installed wireshark and oddly enough its not capturing packets i checked and it is listening in promiscuious mode??

anyhow not really sure why spoofer wont work for me tried other proxies as well as older version the only version i have yet to try is the perl version your first version i do not know how to get it running i installed the active perl that you recommend though and copied and pasted the script in a script.pl file

dont even though if the perl version would help me out in my situation.

really determined to see this working.

Does it matter what particular proxy you use?? below i did an nslookup for various proxies and compiled a list for those who want to edit host file manually this should make things a tad easier for you so you can just copy and paste the proxy you want to use. when i dial the number you mentioned 712-580-9999 then i keep getting my number told back to me?

To get the spoofing to work (with either PERL spoofer or spoofer 1.1), your host file must NOT include specific IP addresses for the different proxies... All proxies must be set to 127.0.0.1.

how do i get spoof.pl to work?

i have active state install and i copied the script and renamed to spoof.pl the icon changes and what


can someone help on this thanks

ok i made the appropriate changes as well and still no luck i also tried with 1.0 version and nothing i dial the number above and no luck still Sad


would like to try and pray the perl version works

I Have No Idea At All Period How To Read Wireshark, But What I Am Getting Out Of It, It's Saying,46818 2829.707157 192.168.x.xx 67.90.138.75 ICMP Destination unreachable (Port unreachable) Then The Line Right Below That Says,46821 2829.747254 67.90.138.75 192.168.x.xx RTP PT=ITU-T G.711 PCMA, SSRC=0x25752FCE, Seq=460, Time=73600 And That Was Trying To Connect To The Boston Proxy Thanks If Any One Can Help..................

this is the ip im showing for the boston proxy

67.91.233.134 when i select it for 1.1 version

i do not know how you know that is the boston proxy i am sure you are probably right i will select boston and see if this works
