yeh, I was half asleep... thanks
they do have 32mb ram and make great icecast servers! They are basically rebranded wrt54g-l v3 with more ram. They work with the sd card mod too. I have one with a 2gb 133x SD card serving as a torrent tracker/client. |

Good price if you can donate $50/ea to the original authors for their work. |

Well if i were to, not to say it hasn't crossed my mind, it would happen following receipt on both ends, however... is the app itself not oss? ... built with oss tools and thus public domain?
Do you suggest I support the DD-wrt community with the as I see it a just price for such hardware as well? If one can roll their own then by all means. This is hardly an attempt to cash in on others work, just merely a means of getting rid of these sans ebay for those who would put them to good use, not scamming, so take it easy with the flame bait man. You by no certainty know my intentions. |

do some descriptive statistics on the variable prices of this model and then factor in the software will be preinstalled, then you can prove that I am doubling anything. |

I'll make it easier for you pageman. Here is a sample from ebay and froogle of 34 in stock potential sales not distinguishing new from old equipment, inclusion or exclusion with of shipping price, and most obviously the inclusion or exclusion of a modded firmware:
http://www.youshare.com/Guest/7a21ed7dd85f36cf.pdf.html
Descriptive stats of the sample tell me that prior to shipping, the average price is about 75 despite anything. If one assumes that those falling below that point are in disrepair and without shipping, then the price is right. For your sour ass, I might even do it for 85 shipped. Don't be sore on a man who has resources to disseminate because you believe the means through which he makes such known is ethically unscrupulous, come direct and tell me you think this isn't the place. The facts are on my side. Can you prove otherwise? |

$60 shipped on ebay (with preinstalled dd-wrt) and the seller still has to pay fees so he's netting about $56. I guess that means typing the few commands from the other thread to install the proxy is worth $34.

Merely trickle down economics. Supplies at the low end of a price distribution generally don't last. I never said a word about having the lowest price and you ignore fees on this end as well. Paypal generally jacks ~25% overall. To some individuals for avoiding a few minutes on a command line console, a larger price is worth it. |

Wow, $90! What a steal. Well, for the seller anyway. The buyer would be getting shafted. You could buy a Netgear WNR834Bv2 for like $20-30. It is also N, and not just G/B. |

4MB flash (jffs)
16MB ram
vs
8 and 32 respectively
worse throughput and routing abilities as well as a lessened ability to use additional apps... Wireless n is overrated if one has crappy throughput throughout the router...
besides the netgear is untested
http://oldwiki.openwrt.org/Hardware(2f)Netgear.html
has an integrated low power non replacable antenna
and has a crappy power brick
haven't you seen the later wrt models?!
all neutered garbage
it is called a recession mediated trend |

I would say it's hardly crappy. It would serve most people very well. It currently is serving 2 pc's and 1 laptop, 1 NMT, 1 FTA box, 1 other router, my PAP2, and never even hiccups. Crappy? Don't make me laugh.
You speak of recession but still charge $90, lol. Amazing. |

FAULTY POWER SUPPLY
Many of the factory refurb WNR834B v1 and v2 routers sold in 2008 through frys.com, geeks.com, tigerdirect.com, and woot.com were shipped with a marginal or defective power supply manufactured by DVE. These units are smaller than traditional power supplies, and can be identified by the following information:
P/N: 332-10006-01
MODEL: DSA-12R-12 AUS 120120
"The routers will operate perfectly with only 9VDC @ 800mA, but older-style surplus Netgear power supplies that output 12VDC @ 1A are available from AllElectronics.com as DCTX-1216 "

The OP is free to sell them at whatever price he wants. It's a free market and people will choose whether they want to pay that price or buy the hardware and do it themselves.
I had about a dozen of these TM's that I modded and sold a while back. Half of them had the SD mod and DD-WRT and the other half just had DD-WRT. I ended up selling the SD modded ones for $50-$60 each and the ones just with DD-WRT (no SD) for $45.
Considering I bought each of them for $20 brand new from the T-Mobile stores, I made at least 100% profit on them. I do not think it was worth the time and effort I put into them though. I planned on charging higher on the SD-modded ones based on the time and skill involved in upgrading them, but the market didn't agree. I had to lower the price to get them sold.
I will note that maybe 1 or 2 of the ones I sold were due to dd-wrt. The other buyers didn't even know what dd-wrt was. They just wanted the router itself...go figure. |

I still wonder what is pre-modded? Even if the proxy is pre-installed still it needs the modification of password in the proxy startup paramter? this being different for every MJ
If some one can do this they can easily do the entire setup using a DD-WRT available off of ebay for half the price?
Been away for a while.. am I missing anything? |

well some people have problems and/or gripes toward loading images and using command line... technically installing a third party firmware constitutes the act of device modification, but I would be willing to slap sd cards in em if anyone wanted if your definition is more stringent... |
