|
|
I have spent a total of 4 hours in chats with their tech support since the last upgrade changing and reinstalling things, and they have been unable to get my MJ 911 to go green. they don't seem to even acknowledge they have a problem. I have 3 other friends at work who have also turned yellow since the upgrade. So my question is this, has anyone had to make a 911 call while it is yellow and what happens? Does it go thru or not? Tech support won't answer this question with a yes or no. they just keep saying it is best to have full service (green), |

I cant answer your last part but mine stayed green for over 2 weeks after the last update. No I did not and would not contact support ( ugh) I tried putting in a new address ( well the same address but entering it again), signing out then back, all to no avail. Then one day it just turned green again, on it's own. So give it time and hopefully yours will go green too ( and NOT in the Al Gore way
I guess a way around it is to add your local PD to your phone's speed dial in case of an emergency..

My 911 was yellow for a few weeks, and a few days it turned green. I guess you will have to wait.

Same here, stays yellow, no matter what.
No, I have not tried to call 911. If you do so without a good reason ( testing MJ is not one of them ) you could get into big trouble.
BTW, who wants to rely on MJ for 911? |

911 is yellow since latest 'Lucky You' it was green before it.
Another symptom that I've noticed is, the advertisement display on the left side of the softphone will display the ads after a reboot / restart and then eventually it will just go 'Black'

Yes, thanks for reminding me. My ad panel also goes black after awhile. I thought maybe it was my firewall ao I turned it completely off and that made no difference at all. |

Ok guys, I just finished my 3rd 2 hour chat and finally got someone who is aware of the issue and assured me that it will work even though it is yellow. Her exact words are : "Yes we do believe its started from August. as we made a major system upgrade.. and though that 911 shows yellow it is still working.. since we are doing and adding more system enhancement to the new magicjack programs. and so 911 but then there is nothing to worry in case of emergency 911 at all times will be able to respond on your place. Its going to work, and there is nothing to problem on tnat. magicjack making sure everything will work. "
So, I'm willing to believe. If not, I copied the entire chat and chat ID into word for the law suit. ). |

As has been mentioned tons of times before, relying on MJ for anything is dangerous, relying on them for 911 services is downright silly. Without giving advice, I would make sure I had a cell phone for 911 backup, or it could be your next of kin trying to find the word file for the lawsuit. |

'Yellow' 911 since the last 'Lucky You'
Rebooted a couple of days ago. I'm 'Green' now.
The ad section on the left side of the softphone used to work for a while and then go 'Black' now it is also working as expected.
My advise to the 'Yellows' out there just wait it out and reboot every once in a while.

Well "lucky you", my MJ acts up so much I reboot a couple times a day, and I think it is permanently stuck on yellow. I don't really care because my point is whether it is red, yellow, green or pink, I think it's dangerous and folly to trust MJ in case of any real emergency. You could dial 911 and they may show up at corporate headquarters. |

I have 2 MJs. 1 is on all the time for personal calls and one is strictly work.
The 1 that is on all the time only dies when we have a power outage, as the computer does not reboot when the power comes back.
The work 1 is booted every day and runs from 5pm to midnight because i'm on call. After that it shuts itself down. Both are yellow. So I don't think rebooting is the answer. I think another MJ upgrade is in order. At any rate, I do have a cell phone, and I think that is a great suggestion. But I have never used it to call 911 either, so who knows if that works. Interestingly enough, the cell phone gets used mostly to receive calls from me at work to tell whoever is home that they've had another 1 minute power outage because the main MJ isn't working. Power outages are just a fact of life where I live. |

If you have that many power outages, you should invest in a good UPS to keep everything running through the outage. |

Shouldn't happen. You may be blaming magicjack for other computer problems. Most people run magicjack for weeks and months without interruption.
I know I do. |

Agreed and highly recommended. Grab a cheap one off of Ebay for a few bucks and replace the battery. Your computer, router, modem and phone (unless using a softphone) should all be plugged into it. Not powering any one of those in a power outage defeats the whole purpose of UPS.
Also, I have a good friend that works at the county 911 dispatch center. My 911 on MJ is yellow so I made arrangements to call 911 with him on duty to test it. It works fine. No issues. |

I know it shouldn't happen. You know it shouldn't happen. But apparently MagicJack doesn't know it shouldn't happen. Just started happening after the latest upgrade, at least once a day, I get a dial tone but cannot dial a number from my phone. When I reboot everything is fine. I will get it figured out.
The point I was trying to make, which apparently went over your head, is that rebooting "probably" isn't going to magically turn your yellow 911 into a green 911. |

I'm as calm as calm can be. I was just curious about where you thought I was blaming MagicJack for anything, which I didn't. So I assumed it went over your head. Must be another reason for the nonsensical comment. |

And my MagicJack does act up and I do reboot a couple of times a day. Where do I blame MagicJack? Right now I have it narrowed down to 2 possibilities. Never said MJ was at fault, only that it's acting up. Love it when people insist on putting words in my mouth. |

Im not relying on their 911 service since i have a land line and cell phone. I did dial the 911 even though its not green and it does work lol. Of course i had to tell them i dial it by accident and they said ok we will disconect it lol. |

Yellow since last lucky you, still yellow. As another posted I tried "re-adding" my address, stayed yellow and has been yellow since.
I work in a 911 center and called myself while at work from my MJ out of curiosity and the address I had registered and was "green" prior to lucky you came across to the 911 center.
