i'm using IE and i only see the ads at the top from google. i believe they are put there by the hosting company.

Two ways. First is try the Adblock Plus extension and the filterset. That should do it. But, if it does not, then this is the nuclear option. Install this file, Blocking Unwanted Parasites Unfortunately this will also break most referred search results and require manual editing of the url, unavoidable collateral damage....

I have both Adblock and CustomizeGoogle for FireFox... Both work very well...
