Hi people..

I have an older magic jack, maybe from around 2009.
The MJ is hooked up to an old XP SP2 machine.

overall it has worked as expected (warts and all) up until about
Jan-February of 2013.

Now, 9 out of 10 times, (usually 10 out of 10) when i get a call, the caller cannot hear me, however, i can hear them just fine. so i tell them
i'll call them back, or for them to call me back if its an anonymous number, and on the next call all works as expected. quality is good etc
etc.

If i have used the phone within the last 15min max, any call will go through with no issues.
-anything longer, and it reverts back to the above mentioned
issue. (all power management is off)

Note: this will happen on a Vista box as well a Win7 box.

I have tried every usb port on any machine available and the same
issues happen.

Tried different phones or using a headset, same thing.

One interesting note: Using WireShark to capture the VOIP packets,
on playback of the stream, both sides of the call can be heard, even
though the caller cannot hear me. (?)

anyway, anyone hear of this issue before or have any other clues
i can try?

thanks in advance,
-s

If you have more than one magicJack, can you compare whether it happens to both mJ devices on the same computer? If the results are identical, it may be a problem either with your computer or router.

Have you tried plugging in your questionable magicJack on a friend's computer using their router and do you see the same results with that setup? If so, the problem may be with the magicJack.
