I had the iphone app on my old iphone 3 and it worked fine.

Today I traded my iphone 3 in on a new Iphone 4S. I downloaded the MJ app just like I did on the old phone and it loaded. Problem is it never asked me for sign in info. When I click on the app it opens and then tells me "the installation assoiciated with your device is invalid".

Anyone else encountered this and know what to do to resolve it. I spent 25 minutes on MJ chat and was told basically nothing.

After being through over 25 hours of tech support with magicjack and several hours with apple tech support, the app it not comparable with the iPhone 4s at this time. At first apple and magicjack thought it was an issue with my phone and apple replaced my phone... Well after 3 new phone and dealing with an engineer from apple and magicjack they concluded the app will not work on the iPhone 4s and as of this point magicjack has no plans to update the software. Cool

I get the same error on my iphone 4S 32 go... but on my girlfriend iphone 4S 16 go the magicjack application work perfectly.

This is an application problem for sure...

Same issue here, with the iphone 4s 32gb.

Its working fine from the iPod touch though.

Yesterday they released an update for the app, but it didn't resolve this issue. At least not for me.

Anyone else got it working with the new update?

you might want to try this with your magicjack (MJ) and iphone 4s (ip4s). but first, here's my background.

i was previously using ipad when i discovered the magicjack app. i am very happy using it. i usually removed my magicjack on the usb if i am going out and will use MJ on ipad on the road. that setup work perfectly for me. once home, i then plug the MJ for home use.

Then i replaced my ipad with Iphone 4s 16GB, factory installed IOS 5.0, after getting my micro sim and the usual iphone start up and activation, i then install magicjack app. to my surprise it didnt work, the same error as everybody encountered with their IPhone4s, "the installation assoiciated with your device is invalid". i thought i had a bad download for the app, i deleted it and download, again, the same error. i removed MJ app again and update my IOS 5.0 to 5.0.1, then download the app again, same error.

I was frustrated as my iphone is new and not expecting it will turn out this way. this time, i searched on the net and this thread came. it gave me out of hope, as this is not a single case. i took a few hours rest and rethink again.
the error "the installation assoiciated with your device is invalid". that means my old setting on ipad was recorded on my MJ and i'm trying to use it on my new iphone, i did not create a new user for apple, i used my old username,email and password. this must mean it is connected to the MJ somehow. i have no idea how to update it. I even chat the technical support for MJ and gave me no answer.
I put my magicjack in my pc then I log in using my MJ name and password. i log out of magic jack and i removed it from pc, once again i tried the Magicjack app on new iphone4s, now it's working! it point me to the user login . i was able to used it.

my suggestion, connect your magicjack to your pc, log in, log out, remove it from pc and try the app in iphone again.

I am very happy now! hope it works with your iphone 4s too..

Okay, yes it's now working on my 32gb iphone 4s now.

This is what I did, but I'm not 100% sure this was the fix or it was just an official global fix from MagicJack.

In the past when I got the error, I had always tested the app with my wifi connection only.
Well, I tested the app with wifi turned off and only the 3G network on. And voila! it worked.
Then I turned on wifi again, and voila! it is still working.

Hope it helps. Happy is working now, very good app.

If you receive an error message when attempting to launch MagicJack app on an iPhone 4S 64GB, and you also have VLINGO app installed... remove VLINGO app from the phone and try launching MagicJack app again. It worked for me, though it may just have been a coincidence. The suggestion above by xbase2003 looks promising... I would have tried it but mine works now so no need. Every suggestion helps.

I kinda find this strange but ... if you can afford all these new iphones and the service for whatever it costs. Why even use magic jack?

I hear that straight talk is 45 bucks a month for unlimited everything and you can get the service to work on iphones.

Some of us are long time MagicJack subscribers and this new app allows us to receive our (home) incoming calls on our iPhones while out of the house... as far as China for example. Also, MagicJack allows for free North American calling whether in you're in North America or whether you're in China... perhaps you might look into why it's such a cool toy, you'll find it pretty cutting edge and unbelievable. Works well (minimal cutting out) 90% of the time on 4S / 3G... but I'll bet it's flawless on 4G. Data is the future. Shaw Cable is currently building the whole of Vancouver to be a huge hotspot... this means that your home internet cable plan will double as your wifi phone as well. You're home phone will also be your mobile phone. However, once you leave the "Vancouver hotspot" your connection is lost so you'll still need a 3G plan (but not if you never leave the city).

My girlfriend and I have iPhone4s 16g each. When I installed MJ app, it kept popping up the above message continuously. I tried uninstalling/installing, rebooting the phone, accessing my MJ account online etc. and it somehow started working after 48 hrs. But when I tried the same on my girlfriends phone, it never fixed itself. The message keep popping up annoyingly. I tried on both wifi and 3G. No difference. We both have separate accounts of course. Is there anything else I'm missing? Or is there anything else I can try? Thanks!

Magicjack app loses all settings and I have to log in every time. I receive a call, do not even pick up, it simple exits and loses all settings and I have to log in again. This way it does work (or not work) serves no function.

Hello I also have the same problem i used the app on my i4 worked well for 8-10 months, now i have i4S and tried on that it says " This device is not on this account" i tried to login and logout in PC but it didn't works for me, Can you guide me in details how to do it

It is not a bug. You can only register one account on one iPhone. If you have an iPhone and sell it, the buyer will never register or sign in into his magicJack APP since his iPhone was already registered by the real owner.

have bought 4 different devices.
have used and like the "softphone"

magic jack stopped working on my iphone2 days ago. all i get is error 20.

support is so bad i wont even try

i am going to use viber instead.

this company will not be here in 2 years.

I guess nearly 2 years since the problem was reported and nothing has been done - I recently upgraded to iPhone 4 and encountered the same issue. It still works on the old iPhone 3GS. Tech support was useless. I spend 5-6 hours with 3 different "specialists", including the supposedly a "top notch guru". All I got, after all is a promise that they have submitted an issue to their technical HQ with status "urgent" and that someone will contact me when resolution is found... So far it has been a week... I guess I sould not hold my breath. I am going to try the fix suggested on page one. Hopefully it works with MJ Plus...
