When I connect the MJ into the USB Port with the small USB extension MJ does not work.
When I plug it directly into the USB Port it works fine.

The thing is that I cannot connect my keyboard when MJ is plugged in directly (no room)
I'm using it on an old Pentium 3 XP service pack 2.
I tried the 2 ports on the machine.

I guess it's not getting enough power with the extension.

What to do ?

Thanks
Daniel

you have to get a USB hub that comes with its own ac adapter so that you will get power from the wall outlet and not from your motherboard some usb equipment uses up more power than others and since you have an older pc it cant handle all the usb equipment at once.

I think daniel was talking about the short USB extension cord that came packaged with the MagicJack device. The short USB extension cord could be defective and not sending enough current to the MagicJack device. If you have another (longer) USB extension cord, try that to see if your MJ works fine with it. Or plug the MJ device into the self-powered USB hub like curiousgeorge suggested.

I would suggest if you have an extra PCI slot left on your mother board and an extra slot for expansion in the rear of your tower I would get a PCI USB card to plug into your board. The extra dedicated USB ports might give you more power and will give you the room to plug your magicjack in.And you can upgrade to USB 2.0 if you don't have it now:) You can pick up one of these cards on eBay for less that $10 shipped. Hope that helps smaerd58

Please let us know if the PCI USB card solution works. I have an old box I need to resurrect, and need to know if that will be enough to power the MJ.
