|
|
Recently my HP T5720 Thin Client was not working with the magicJack.
This message appeared on the screen.
magicJack cannot connect to the internet. Click here to run magicfix.
It takes you to their website and tells you that your "firewall" is blocking magicJack servers. A Thin Client does not have a firewall, unless you install it.
After an hour and 2 technicians later at the magicJack site and live chat, here is the transcript from the technician that finally had the fix.
I deleted out my part of the conversation and edited it for the fix.
Imarie: Thanks for waiting. I will be glad assisting you today.
Imarie: Please click on Start >Control Panel > Internet Options > click on Connections tab.
Imarie: Okay, CLICK on LAN Settings and in there, please make sure that there is no check mark on the little box next to Proxy server.
Imarie: Double click on the computer clock located at the bottom right hand corner of your computer screen.
Imarie: The "Date and Time Properties" window will popup. Make sure the month, year, day and the time corresponds to the current date and time. Click OK or APPLY button when you're done with any changes.
Imarie: Click the "Start" button then "Settings" then "Control Panel" then go to "Internet Options", under "Privacy" tab, slide the bar down to "Accept all cookies".
Imarie: Click "Security" tab, click on "Trusted Sites" then click the "Sites" button. Un-check the box at the bottom left of the window that says "Require Server Verification".
Imarie: Type the following address into the text bar, reg.talk4free.com then click the "Add" button, and also type in the following address, my.magicJack.com and click "Add" then "Close" then "OK
Imarie: Please click the link to download and run the magicJack upgrade:
Imarie: http://upgrades.magicjack.com/upgrade/upgrade.exe
Remember to save the changes with the EWF!
This should help at least a few magicJack users out there. |

The EWF is the Enhanced Write Filter. This protects the image from being "written" to like a regular hard drive. Any changes you make to the image must use the EWF to "commit" the changes to the flash drive. |
