Well, I just got and installed my magicjack today, and have spent all frackin' day on live chat with the incompetent morons over at magicjack "tech support". You see, I was having a problem: everytime I got a call while I was playing Halo 3 on my xbox 360, I would get disconnected from Xbox Live. I googled all over hell's half acre with no luck. Finally, I resorted to the live chat option on Magicjacks support web page. I copied it all for your viewing pleasure. Hopefully this may save someone else a wasted Sunday afternoon and a pile of aggravation. So without further ado, enjoy:

Chat InformationYou are now chatting with 'Marionne'

Marionne: Hello, how may I help you?

Jason Lloyd: I just received my Magicjack today and installed it. Everything seems to be working fine except for the fact that I get disconnected from xbox live everytime I receive a call. Is there some way to correct this?

Marionne: Thank you for addressing your concern to us.

Jason Lloyd: Um... ok. So is there a fix?

Marionne: We will try to fix this.

Marionne: Did you see an error message?

Marionne: When did this issue started?

Jason Lloyd: Are you even reading what I'm writing? As I already stated I RECEIVED AND INSTALLED MY MAGICJACK TODAY. Therefore, I guess it all started.... TODAY. No, there was no error message. I just keep getting disconnected from xbox live everytime I get a call.

Marionne: Sorry for that.

Jason Lloyd: It's ok.

Marionne: We will try to run for the upgrade.

Marionne: Please wait while I check that for you

Marionne: http://www.sjphone.org/brands/YMax/2008-6-26/upgrade.exe

Marionne: Please inform me once you're done.

Jason Lloyd: Updating now...

Marionne: Okay.

Jason Lloyd: Has anyone had this issue besides me?

Marionne: Yes.

Marionne: Kindly tell me once you're done.

Jason Lloyd: I am done.

Marionne: Please unplug your magicjack and plug it back and wait after few seconds.

Jason Lloyd: Ok. I've done as you suggested.

Marionne: Please try to call your magicjack number now.

Jason Lloyd: ok. One moment, please...

Marionne: Okay.

Marionne: Kindly tell me if it's now working.

Jason Lloyd: just a little bit longer, please

Marionne: Okay.

Marionne: Take your time.

Jason Lloyd: Well, 2 things happened:

Jason Lloyd: 1.) I still get disconnected from xbox live and 2.) I had to call my magicjack 4 times before I could get through. It would keep saying "All circuits are busy. Please try again later..." Finally, I got through and it rang and rang and then just stopped. I didn't get a greeting from the voicemail or anything.

Marionne: Okay.

Marionne: One moment please...

Jason Lloyd: I just tried again twice and I heard the voicemail greeting, but it was not the one I set up. It was the default female voice greeting. Also, I got disconnected again the second time I called.

Marionne: Okay.

Marionne: 1From your phone (that is plugged into your magicJack) dial your own number.

Marionne: 2-OR Click the Voice Mail button on your Softphone (the phone displayed on your computer screen).

Marionne: 3When you hear a voice, press the * (star) key.

Marionne: 4When prompted, dial the default password 1234 on your phone or Softphone.

Marionne: 5Please change your password once you have accessed your account.

Marionne: 6Follow the prompts to personalize your options.

Marionne: May I know if you're using corded or cordless phone?

Jason Lloyd: Cordless, and I've already set up my voicemail greeting. But it still plays the default greeting.

Marionne: Okay.

Marionne: I would suggest you to use the corded one, Jason.

Marionne: Cordless phones transmits voice data over the air

Marionne: and it could interfere with other wireless devices. And the same

Marionne: with speaker, it might interfere with phone just like when a

Marionne: mobile speaker is close to a speaker.

Marionne: Please make sure that the cord is not less than 6 feet.

Marionne: Are you still there?

Jason Lloyd: That is not the issue. This cordless phone is 5.8ghz and is designed not to interfere with wi-fi networks. This is an issue with your product. Have you successfully resolved this issue with anyone else getting disconnected from xbox live?

Marionne: Is it fine with you if I transfer you to the higher level?

Jason Lloyd: Please do.

Marionne: Thank you so much.

Jason Lloyd: Thank you.l

Marionne: One last thing.

Marionne: Did you try to remove that application and after that you place a call?

Marionne: Does it work?

Jason Lloyd: I don't understand what you are asking.

Marionne: Okay.

Marionne: Sir Jason.

Marionne: One last try. I've already refreshed it here in our database.

Marionne: Please try to make a call again.

Marionne: Before I transfer you.

Jason Lloyd: ok. One moment, please...

Marionne: Thank you so much for cooperating.

Jason Lloyd: I've tried calling my home phone 7 times and it keeps saying "All circuits are busy. Please try your call again later."

Marionne: Please restart your magicJack. Menu>Advanced Users>Restart.

Jason Lloyd: Done.

Marionne: Please restart your magicjack after 2 minutes.

Jason Lloyd: ok

Marionne: May I know what service pack you're using?

Jason Lloyd: Service pack for magic line?

Marionne: Okay.

Jason Lloyd: magicjack?

Marionne: I will give you the link for the downgrade.

Marionne: You're using service pack 3.

Marionne: Please wait while I check on this.

Jason Lloyd: Okay. Thanks

Marionne: You are welcome

Marionne: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=049C9DBE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en

Marionne: Kindly click on the link above.

Marionne: Please inform me once you're done.

Jason Lloyd: So it is necessary to downgrade windows xp in order to fix this issue?

Marionne: Yes it is.

Marionne: Magicjack will only work with service pack 2.

Marionne: That is why I am giving you downgrade link.

Jason Lloyd: I am downloading it now. Do you know if magicjack will ever be compatible with service pack 3?

Marionne: No.

Marionne: We are still working on it.

Marionne: It will be available in the future.

Marionne: As of the moment, magicjack will work on service pack 2.

Jason Lloyd: Ok. I've got 10 minutes remaining on my download.

Marionne: Okay.

Marionne: Kindly take your time.

Jason Lloyd: Thank you for all your help.

Marionne: You are welcome

Marionne: Are you still there?

Jason Lloyd: yes just finished downloading. I'm installing it now.

Marionne: Okay.

Jason Lloyd: Honestly, has this helped others who have had the same problem I have?

Marionne: Yes.

Jason Lloyd: I'm not real comfortable about downgrading my entire operation system just for this one program.

Marionne: I am sorry for that.

Marionne: But magicjack will not work on service pack 3.

Marionne: We are still working on it.

Marionne: I hope you understand.

Jason Lloyd: Yes, I understand that. But this is a major problem for magicjack. In fact, I would say that it is most unacceptable.

Marionne: Okay.

Marionne: Is it done now?

Jason Lloyd: Nope. I'm in the process of removing the service pack 3 that microsoft says I should be using for windows xp. Please give me a moment while I reconfigure my entire operating system...

Marionne: Okay.

Marionne: No problem with that.

Jason Lloyd: Alright. I'm done.

Marionne: Please unplug your magicjack now and plug it back and wait after few seconds.

Jason Lloyd: Now what?

Marionne: Please try to make a call now.

Marionne: Please call your magicjack number.

Jason Lloyd: Once again, I have been disconnected from xbox live.

Marionne: One moment please...

Marionne: Please close that application xbox live.

Marionne: Magicjack will not work on that.

Marionne: One more thing.

Jason Lloyd: Excuse me?! Didn't you just say that this issue has been resolved for other people who have had the same problem?! You have me downgrade my operating system to an inferior version, leaving me more susceptible to hackers and viruses only to tell me after an hour that "magicjack won't work on xbox live".

Jason Lloyd: Are you kidding me?!

Marionne: Okay.

Marionne: Please disable your firewall.

Marionne: Thank you for your patience. I will transfer you to a higher level of support. Please hold while I transfer you.

Chat InformationPlease wait while I transfer the chat to the best suited site operator.

Chat InformationYou are now chatting with 'Elle'

Elle: Hello.

Jason Lloyd: hello

Jason Lloyd: Do you have a transcript of everything I have discussed so far?

Elle: Yes.]

Elle: One moment please...

Elle: Thank you for patiently waiting. If you make and receive calls you will be disconnected from your Xbox and there's no way to prevent for it as of this moment.

Jason Lloyd: I noticed an option for "Do Not Disturb" in the menu. Could this possibly keep me from getting disconnecte?

Elle: Please uncheck it.

Jason Lloyd: I never checked it.

Jason Lloyd: Hello?

Jason Lloyd: Wow, so you're the "higher level of support"?

Elle: Yes. I refer this to our engineers and you cannot prevent your xbox from being disconnected if you receive and make calls with magicJack.

Jason Lloyd: Even if I check "Do Not Disturb"?

Jason Lloyd: ...and don't make any outgoing calls?

Elle: If you check DND you cannot make calls using your telephone.

Jason Lloyd: And I won't receive any either, right?

Elle: Yes.

Jason Lloyd: Do you think that I could simply check DND while I am on Xbox Live to prevent being disconnected, or should I just unplug the magicjack completely?

Elle: Please just unplug your magicJack so that you will never be disconnected.

Jason Lloyd: *sigh* Thanks. I'm going to reinstall service pack 3 now...

Elle: You are welcome

Elle: Is there anything else I may help you with today?

Jason Lloyd: No thank you.

Elle: Thank you for stopping by to chat, I hope I did a good job at addressing your concerns. Please take a second to answer a one question survey about the service I provided. Please click the "close" button on the top right of this screen and the survey will appear. Thanks again!

Jason Lloyd: LOL.......... ok
