After dicking with this for several days now and with the lack of any useful technical support I can only come to the conclusion that this product while when working is great, is far from ready for prime time. I managed to easily get it to install on one laptop running Vista w/SP1. On another laptop I've managed to get it working after flattening the OS and reinstalling. Though there is no telling which app when installed will render the MJ non functional. On my desktop running Vista with SP1, it functioned until further hardware updates were presented by Windows Update and accepted and installed. After that, I get the please plug into USB port msg. After uninstalling those updates, same thing. Not sure which hardware update (if it was a hardware update did this). Only way to resolve this will be to flatten the machine again and test the MJ after each and every update. Unfortunately MagicJack has no technical support available beyond the scripted chat sessions which while the people on the other end are trying real hard, the chats are useless. I feel sorry for their chat support people as they are stuck with the same issues repeatedly with no viable resolutions. At this time I think that I'm just going to have to ditch this thing as a useful item until such time and their software engineers come out with an update that addresses these issues. Guess I'll just plug it in every few weeks into one of the machines it functions on and hope it picks up an update that fixes the issues. Though there is that part of me that wants to flatten the desktop machine again and figure out which update is crapping it out. Problem is, I should not have to be dicking with that, but then again, it is a beta..... Sad
