I have WildBlue for my satellite internet service.

I would plug directly into the WB or into the wireless router I have or can have connected to it?

As I and many others in this forum have stated in the past ( search IS your friend), satellite and VOIP do not work very well together as there is a lag, or latency, on the uplink which will drive you crazy, WAY to much of a delay...

I would not recommend it to anybody as replacement for regular phone service, but at one time I did used Hugesnet sat service and a Vocaltech USB phone to save on long distance.

It is more like using a walkie talkie than a phone, Thats if it works at all, the rules may have changed but at one time Hughesnet was actively blocking all VoIP traffic.

No the original MJ needs a computer operating system like Windows XP or above or OSX on the Apple platform.

The MagicJack PLUS will function with a direct Ethernet connection after you register it on one of the above mentioned operating systems.
