This is great information. I have a lot to check out. I'm familiar with Tomato because I use it in two Linksys 54WRTs. But I'm not using a Linksys with the 2Wire modem because it is an integrated modem/wireless router. I was also thinking about QOS to improve the sound quality of the MJ, but I'll ...

Speedtest.net tells me that my download speed is 2580 kb/s and upload speed is 781 kb/s. My computer connects to my Telus ADSL modem/router (2Wire) wirelessly. Would this upload speed cause the poor sound quality on the other end of the Magic Jack?

I find that if the sound is acceptable on my end, it's poor on the other end. It still doesn't compare with Skype. Maybe they can still improve on it. It's better than the old MediaRing which had an echo on one end, but still not there.

Poor Sound Quality

I find that the sound quality of the Magic Jack is poor. Skype is much better. I've tried the MJ with two different ISPs. The sound quality is poor with both.

Slow Web Site

Does anyone else find that the web pages from this web site are really slow loading? It takes me about 3 minutes to load a page. Submitting a message is also painfully slow.

It's OK now. Thanks. I chatted with a support guy named Harmony and he suggested going into the registry to delete some folders. Deleting the folders did the trick. The volume is not as loud as I would like, but it is acceptable.

I've tried 3 different phones and a headset. The volume is low at the other end.

Re: Magic Jack not working

I got a magic jack and plugged it into my computer (XP). A screen pops up with "Download in progress please do not unplug" and thats it. It lasts for ever and ever and nothing ever happens. What should I do?
I am not particularly tech savvy, and would appreciate it if someone would take me stepwise ...

Volume Problem

I've cranked up the volume for the microphone in the Menu, but the sound is still too low for the person that I call. Is there anything else that I can do, other than yell into the phone?
