Magic Jack only supports caller id currently...not caller id with name. However, if someone calls you who is in your contact list...then the name will appear with the number on your phone and soft phone.

As for the new phone not displaying caller id at all.. An AC powered hub may help, but maybe ...

I've had this happen with other usb devices due to a crappy usb extension cord or a power problem. Try using the MJ without the extension cord..if that doesn't work then get a powered usb hub.

On that system my magic jack would stop working after maybe 14hrs.. then I would have to unplug it and plug it back in. It works find on my other systems ...

Running a mj on a vm and one on the physical machine is the same as running 2 mj's on the physical machine. I'm sorry but this is very picky and selective. The VM is running on the physical machines hardware and IN it's operating environment... You can pick that apart all you want. Fact of the ...

No things haven't changed. It is still a violation of the terms of the reseller agreement. One of the reasons I chose not to become a reseller. The terms are quite strict. The people on ebay must be connected with the company somehow or they are illegally selling.

If you are behind a router please make sure ports 5060 and 5070 are open/forwarded. If you have a router list the brand and model and I'm sure I or someone else here can tell you how to forward the ports.

Caller ID with call waiting doesn't work for me either. I'm not sure it is supported.

The voicemail light almost never works. I think it worked once for me. I think they are working on it, but I'm not sure. Just wait on that. I think they will get it fully implemented eventually.

Handset stops responding possible fix

Just a few days ago I started to notice that every once in awhile the actual phone would not work... the MJ would work with a headset, but not the phone. No dialtone. I went into device manager and Under the power management tab for the USB Root Hub I unchecked "Allow the computer to turn off this ...

hmm ok nvm

Maybe it is hardware failure. The MJ itself. If your ports are forwarded... I really don't know what the problem could be. Maybe someone else has some ideas. Good luck.

I've been poking around in the registry ... I'm curious... could you go to your start menu > Run > type "regedit"

Then navigate to this entry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\talk4free\USB Softphone\Options\Audio

and see if the EnableNoiseReduction is set to 1.

If my phone rings and i pick up my cordless telephone I don't have to click accept, It goes away automatically when I pick up the phone.

The only time I need to click "accept" is when I am using a headset and I don't have a telephone plugged into my MJ to pick up the phone call.

Exactly. Maybe ...

No problem. Let me see if I understand correctly..

You have had the firewall disabled all along? And this didn't fix your issue?

The magic jack most likely uses ports 5060 and 5070 to transmit audio. Your router must be configured to have these ports open. You can also try enabling SIP and QOS in ...

Are you behind a router/firewall? Did you try a different USB port? A lot of times USB ports are paired. They have one next to them. Try not plugging anything into the port next to the Magic Jack. That way no power will be taken away from the Magic Jack.

Also try plugging it in without the ...

Make sure the Magic Jack is FULLY inserted into the USB port.

If it is... then maybe try a powered USB hub. Otherwise I'd send it back for replacement before the 30days is up. Unless of course you bought it from a reseller.. then you are bound to their refund and replacement terms.

1) Plug the Magic Jack directly into your USB port without using the extension that comes with it. Make sure the Magic Jack is FULLY inserted into the USB port.

Have you tried to format it's Flash mem? Maybe del all of MJ's files from your computer and settings in the registry? Then reinstall.

You could also try a powered usb hub. It should provide better stability and often fixes many problems.

Have you tried:

1) Plugging the MJ directly into your USB port without using the extension cable? I believe plugging the MJ in directly eliminates some electrical resistance that comes from the extension cable. This should supply better power to the MJ and increase it's stability.

2) Giving MJ's ...
