Have not been here for a while but I noticed that the magicjack FAQ section has been upgraded to offer more of the common technical questions, not sure when it was upgraded because who actually goes to magicjack home page for technical support? http://www.magicjack.com/5/faq/ peace out!
It could be your phone, have you tried another brand/type? my vtech 5.8 is so loud that I have to turn the volume all the way down and it is still very loud, good luck.
That is very good news, most of the issues with MJ is the fact that they are always doing something on their side upgrades etc. which is a good thing but very unpredictable,so hopefully it stays that way for you.
Manchas, I would really discurage the use of MJ for business use, it is not stable enough and will cause you headaches, use MJ mainly for family, friends and long distance, just my two cents.
dcinelli, was wondering if you unplug all other usb devices and remove your graphics card it might help solve your problem,if it does then it could be that your power supply is maxed out or that it is to much for your mainboard to handle,I have noticed that MJ needs a lot of power to run smooth, good ...
Hello, have you also tried unplugging any and all USB devices from your system? I gave an MJ to a friend and he had the same issue, once he removed all power consuming USB devices it worked perfect. Note: this also includes any extra power hungry pci cards etc. good luck!

I also want to comment on why I use a cable modem, my folks have verizon DSL and they have a 756kbps plan when I run a speed test on their pc I get a max speed of 436kbps +/- on a good day,now I have time warner's road runner service @ 6.0 for the same price and when I run the speed test it gets ...

thanks for your honest opinion steve and I hope you did not go with vonage because they charged me a cancellation fee of about $38.00+ it is very hard to cancel the service without hearing aprox.1 hour of customer support trying to convince you to keep the service, other than that it is a very stable ...
Hello fallbrook, yes this will work but it is very dependent on your setup/equipment and it will not be very reliable due to a various amount of issues which I will list.
1.How many open wi-fi connections available 2.Distance(signal strenght) 3.Noise/interference
very popular topic here if you search around you will notice that it is almost always a problem on MJ side and there is nothing you can do on your side to fix it,all I can suggest is that you bug the heck out of tech support until they get it fixed for you, good luck.
With some tweaking on your router and on your pc you will get a decent phone service with MJ but it will never be equal to a direct cat5 cable connection due to the instability of wireless network,I have tested different wireless setups with different wireless devices and nothing beats a solid fast ...
pitchie,I agree but I will warn you about cancelling vonage it is a nightmare, do a google search on this topic and get ready for a cancelation fee, good luck with your MJ.
I think you posted in the wrong section even though there is a lot of tips on the chat you had so I could be wrong, but I thought you had a cool hack or trick for the MJ.
Hello razmear and welcome to the forum you are correct in asuming that it could be a network issue on MJ side, torrents will cause some lag depending on your network speed and if the pc/laptop that the MJ is connected via wireless or cat5.If you try some of the many tips and tricks that are posted on ...
You can install FLP on a 1gb(2gb recomended) cf card I just used a 4GB because I already had it,I still had more than half left over on a full install of FLP.The good thing about FLP is that it gives you a few install options one being less than 1gb to save on disk space,I did a search on ebay and ...
This is a very popular topic on this forum and since everyone's setup is diffrent you will find a large amount of solutions to this problem the hard part is finding the one that works for you, search and read the post's.Try the solutions that do not cost any money first most of the time it is just ...
Trust me, I am aware of why(technically) this is not possible that is why I posted in the lounge section but I also know that there are some very smart and creative people out there. If you go to youtube you will see people running xp/vista on a sony psp, that is just one of hundred's of really cool ...
dr-freak,I did not check but if you have not try posting your area and see if other people are having the same problems,I read a post where people in the Indiana area had problems related to MJ outage and they are still waiting for a fix(the problem appears to be on MJ server side),good luck.
I agree with kumar do not say how cheap it is it will bring on a terrible curse the MJ will start to fail, bad sound, weird popping/clicking,errors and all sorts of strange unexplained phenomenon,I get goosebumps just talking about it
Just wondering if you have service pack 2+ updates installed on your pc that might help, but I guess it is a problem is on MJ's side because someone else is having the same problem and they are in your area hope it gets resolved quickly, good luck.
I have tought of using ATA but did not want to risk loosing my MJ service by breaking TOS,also this pc was just sitting in my garage collecting dust and with this mod to the hard drive it is very quiet and runs cool due to not having any moving parts to generate heat or noise + the adapter was very ...
Hello to all MJ users, well I just finished a small MJ project and the results are great! :P
First I pulled out an old compaq ipaq c500(celeron 500mhz with 384ghz ram)desktop, took out the hard drive and replaced it with a much more energy efficient 4gb CF card using an IDE to CF adapter that I ...
the only problem is that MJ needs an OS(xp,vista) to work properly I think someone out there with the knowledge maybe one day will make this possible, but for now the answer is no,for now the only option is BYOD using sip(if and when MJ allows this)but feel free to experiment that is the only way.
I got a crazy idea :o why not install sp2+updates(wich you need for MJ) and see if it works its very simple fix,why it makes a diffrence I do not know because I do not know enough about programing to answer this,I do know for a fact that if you run any xp with sp1 you are installing the worst ...
this could be a problem on MJ's side,If the troubleshooting tips on this forum do not offer a solution then wait a few hours and try again later or go to the tech chat and see if they are having technical problems with your specific area. good luck
I see vista as when win xp first came out, it was a disaster, now with sp2 + critical updates from micro$oft it works better then ever.I hope this is the case with vista or they are trying really hard to make vista unhackable but user friendly at the same time which means it will be harder to ...
