Nope, once you port ANY number to MJ it is then deactivated from that provider and will work only on your MJ.

The only difference being ( for now anyway) once (if) you roll back and then plug it into the router MJ can't update it until you plug it back into the PC.
I still think that 25' cable you are using to connect your router isn't helping any, which is why it maybe sounds better on the PC.

Ok let me get this straight, leave his PC on so he can plug his old MJ into it. Uhhhh if he is going to leave his PC on ANYWAY why not just plug the Plus into the USB port and be done with it?

Since MJ has a limit on daily calls and monthly total minutes and since you are using MJ in a hotel it is possible you have violated their TOS and they have suspended your account(s).
One way to find out would be to go to their online chat and inquire if your account(s) are still active. If yes ...

I've had Caller ID for over a decade now and it always displayed the ID of the person calling. Magic Jack is only displaying the phone number. That does not tell me the IDentity of the person calling. Is there a fix for this?

Dumb question, since most stores allow any where from 14-30 return, why not just bring it back, tell them it was a repackaged USED unit and either exchange it or get a refund.

One can ONLY use the MJ softphone with the MJ Plus plugged into your PC's USB port. If it is plugged into your Router your PC O.S can not see it, therefore the softphone has no way to interact with your MJ....
