Re: Powered USB hub

My questions are these: if I elevate the desktop off the floor will the speed improve and will that cure my magic jack problem? Should I double the RAM or make it at least one megabyte?

In about two or three weeks I will be hardwiring the desktop directly into the router. (It is because I am ...

The usual rule is: NEVER run files of this kind.
That would indeed be the case is you were SENT such a file without ASKING for it. But in this case you're downloading it yourself. You're ASKING for it. I agree that EXE files are usually suspicious,. MJ could have ZIPped the file and then ...

Don't know where you're located... I'm in DC... but I will bet you LUNCH that this "fix" won't make one iota of difference... :?

Don't want to burst your bubble, but it sounds like one of the many useless MJ support suggestions. They're grasping at straws...

I think it would be ...

In TaskManager, on the Processes tab, sort by Image Name (clik on the column heading). Then find the MagicJack process (it's called magicJack.exe), right-click on it and select Priority. Set it to high.
I'm not sure if that help or hinder, because setting ...

Except for a few reboots it's been on 24/7 for a year now. :)

Got you beat by a factor 5!
I have one laptop for a specialized purpose (running Windows 200) that I've had on continuously for over 4 years now. I have to reboot it about every 10 days or so because resources run low, but other ...

Check your computer for any activity that happens at the same time the audio goes choppy. Sounds like something is either using bandwidth or CPU cycles to an extent that it interferes with your MJ.
Open Task Manager (right click on the Taskbar, select Task Manager)
Change to the Processes Tab
Sort ...

Re: I need suggestions on the beeping noises using magicjack

the other person hears a beeping noise, like a button being pushed, but they are not pushing any

You don't mention whether you're using the SoftPhone (using the computer mic and speakers) or have an actual telephone hooked up to the MJ device.

If you're using an actual telephone set, have you ...

Is the Windmilltrading THE powered USB Hub to get for the MagicJack?

I don't have the newest version they have on their website (I got the older one), but a buddy of mine bought one last week. It solved his problems. He had 2 problems: dropped one-way audio all the time (it got to the point he ...

I tried several powered USB hubs (all sub $10) and none of them worked right.
Thanks to MJ Live Chat Support I eventually found this hub that was quite a bit more expensive but I figured if I'm using it with a service that's saving me $100's I can afford to spend it. :D

It's a tiny 4-port ...
