little off subject but I used to use a trunk with MJ via asterisk have not for almost a year now. are you guys authenticating via the trunk configs? I know there was some program needed where you had to use a windows PC running a proxy script something called MJM5 I think

Yeap, GV is awesome use my own ATA dont have to keep a pc on. More features call quality is awesome..

Until MJ comes out with a real ATA answer then even at the low price of 20 bucks its not worth my time.

found a solution for the inbound call when trying to place an out bound call

login to your Gizmo account check forwarding all Calls > the click on sip then add your google number followed by @216.239.37.15:5061

this should resolve the inbound calls when trying ...

I know Google used to support sip calls from Gizmo 5 but pretty sure this was turned off.. also to make an outbound call you must first go to VM then hit a few other options to place the outbound call..

Well, I would have to trap a call again to be 100% sure. but I believe that MJ uses 0 100 in their SDP information

0= G711
100= inband DTMF

using 100 means there is an actual audio pulse. that is the traditional way of passing DTMF and has been for numerious years.. So this would be nothing new ...

after 200 free minutes believe the price is 1.9 Cents a minute

they allow outbound caller id spoofing. I do find there is some PDD
Post dial delay on outbound call however.. Decent service really happy with vitelity.com

Thank you admin. For the clarification MJ engineers are pretty slick. Looks like it is locked down pretty good now.. MJ is a good service for a 2nd line or people on the go.. by no means should this be your primary service.. there are plenty of posts out there if people are looking for cheaper VOIP ...

well there are tons of reports on how to do this on this site.. Post your Peer and User setting and register string under your trunk settings this will help in diagnosing the problem..

been using trixbox and MJ over a year lots of cool things you can do.. One very cool function is caller id ...

for the host you will need to use an IP address instead of domain name..

they use Intrado for their 911 services. I have called to test out all my MJ and VOIP lines. I suggest anyone depending on MJ 100% of the time do this

Well if your depending on 911 via MagicJack I would suggest calling 911 informing the operator this is not an emergency. And You were testing your VOIP line. confirm the address and name show up correctly.

Asterisk can do this.. You can even load MJ configs with Asterisk.. However this violates the TOS with MJ

Since this is a busineess I suggest building an Asterisk box and pay for voip trunking. it will still be cheaper then vonage.

NO the current MJ USB device does not have the options for g729 but you can move the configs to another device that does suport g729

One way to be a little more secure is to chagne your codec from G711 to G729 compressed RTP. Now you can decode G729 but little harder to do.

I can tell you that I work at a huge voip backbone company and I have never heard of any agency requesting audio call traps.

ok I was mistaken there is options for g711A and G711U.. I know you can switch between the two. But even changing from A to U will not help with dial up connection. I have not tried using G729 via MJ anyone else?

I dont currently use a pc and MJ togather but pretty sure about a year ago you were able to go into your Registry and find MJ USb device and changed the codec for g711 to g729 by simply changing a 0 with a 1

for VOIP calls you have to snoop on the UDP packets. and then convert to RTP. so yes someone connecting to your unsecure wireless router would be able to do this..
