This method cannot record a call; it uses the dongle's hardware as a virtual sound card/mic so that other programs such as Skype can use the phone attached to the dongle. If you really want to record a call, you can try Virtual Audio Cable (http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.html).

Will MJ work with old Western Electric phone?
I am thinking about getting a magicJack to use as a second phone line. Does it give enough power to ring the old-fashioned bells inside my Western Electric 500 set? Or, does anyone know the max ringer equivalence of the device? I know the rotary dial probably won't work; I will have to get a tone ...
