Windows 7 issue

Am migrating to a new Windows 7 Machine from a XP Machine. Magic Jack worked fine under XP. Magic Jack works ok on Windows 7 except for one issue I can't seem to solve. When you select the Menu option on Magic Jack and then select Volume/Headset Control, it will not allow you to choose your device ...

Bumbles. How does the Hawking setup page show how to install it? With mine, because I do have a modum, router combo, I had to add a switch. Another 20 bucks but it was worth it. I noticed the quality improve immediatley.

I was anticipating doing exactly what you did, but my modem is not a combo ...

OK latest update on call quality solutions... just found out that people who are not on a home network and have a cable modem CAN'T use the Hawking Broad Band Booster without putting a router in between. I have Cox Cable out of Connecticut and they indicated that the cable modems they provide are ...

Have experienced something similar before but that was just dialing a number. It absolutely refused to go through with the call even though the number was reached through a land line in between.

The last three or four days the quality of calls with Magic-Jack significantly improved for me...as good as the land line. My hopes were dashed quickly though as today the calls are horrific. Have not made any recent changes to account for the quality changes. Tried today the suggestion above about ...

If you see performance effected by other programs running you may want to elevate magicJack.exe priority in task manager to "Above Normal" or higher. Above Normal would give it priority over most other tasks while leaving OS related processes higher priority.

If that makes a difference for you ...

Ok....after a few days of the power management change, calls have improved but are still not consistent enough for me. I noticed using the testvoip website that I can range between 3.2 and 4.5 depending on the time of day and what software I have running. Am now considering looking at the Hawking ...

Try this fix for lousy call quality

I've been beating my head against the wall trying to solve the often mentioned choppy call quality which many people experience. I finally found a fix that appears to work and not sure if it's been mentioned already in the many posts on this forum.

Try disabling the power management feature in ...

Ok have taken some of the advice listed and still have inconsistent call quality. Have tried the softphone with a microphone and it's the same quality. Have run the VOIP test software and am getting around 4.0 pretty consistently. Have been trying it at different times of the day to see if that ...

I wouldn't try a powered USB hub unless I confirmed that using the softphone with a headset makes a difference.

I'd also eliminate the router to see if that makes a difference.

I'd eliminate wireless to see if that makes a difference. Then I'd consider QoS. See

Help...I'm getting really annoyed!

Have tried just about all the tricks and can't seem to get a consistent call quality with the MagicJack. I can usually hear my call perfectly though sometimes I will get some garbling, but on the other end they are getting static or sometimes can't hear me at all. Have also experienced outright call ...
