800 number?
Hi all,
I am using MagicJack for my home number, but recently added Vonage for business/fax use. My question is.... how can I get a free 800 number that will forward to my Vonage #. Vonage will allow me to add a 800 number for $5/month, but I would only get 100 minutes per month.
Any ideas?
TIA

A combo of features...
I have beans but wanted the area code feature, too. I just installed a script to run that allows the area code feature to work; that is free.

Magic Beans virus problem.
My antivirus program (AVG) has recently begun to identify Magic Beans as a virus and removes it each morning during its scans. This began to happen after I installed AutoIt to run an area code script.
I have excluded the MagicBeans directory from scanning to stop this from happening, but am ...

No dialtone assistance please....
Windows XP, using Magic Beans with AT&T handset. This configuration has worked fine for over a year. Now only the softphone works. I have rebooted MJ, upgraded MJ, rebooted Magic Beans and the computer to no avail. I am stumped.

I "assume" you tried another phone for shits and grins??
When you say you reset the phone did you leave the base unplugged for say 30 min or so? Take the battery out of the handset for a bit? Maybe you also need to re register the handset to the base ( I had one cordless where the base and handset ...

No dialtone with cordless phone...
Been working fine for me for about 8 months. As of two days ago I no longer get a dial tone or ring on my cordless phones (At&T). Calls placed from the computer go through and calls made to my MJ show up as missed in the log. (obviously can't answer if the phone doesn't ring).

Here is what finally worked.....
I replaced the standard phone line going to the fax machine with a modular line cord (6-conductor). Send and receive both work flawlessly now.

No dialtone with fax machine
Everything else works great. However, the fax machine will not get a dialtone with MJ. I have restarted MJ, upgraded MJ, plugged fax machine directly into MJ, plugged fax machine into splitter into MJ, everything. I got it to send a fax ONE time about a month ago, but am going crazy now.

Has anyone tried to disable voicemail?
I don't want to use MJ's voicemail. My dumbassed answering machine will pick up on 2 rings (too soon) or 4 rings (too late - goes to MJ voicemail). Short of buying a new answering machine that will answer on 3 rings, is there any way to disable voicemail?

Have had MJ for a couple of weeks now...
and it is hit and miss. It mostly works, but we've experienced the occasional echo, low voice, dial to dial tone issue, etc. I really don't need a land line at all. I had Vonage but decided $40/month was a waste. I only purchased the MJ for use with international calling.
