After further consideration, I'm not comfortable doing this. Maybe "magichack" could weigh in. I've heard that these MJ devices come with a serial number. For example, "isleblue" posted that MJ is sending him a replacement device that is already tied to his existing phone number (account ...

Re: Expected lifetime of always-on MJ dongle

No that is not enough information to calculate the life expectancy.

1. you need to know how much flash the MJ has.

For the record... the MagicJack gen2 device has a Samsung K9F5608U0D TSOP NAND Flash chip which is a 256Mbit (32MByte) chip.

I've not had a similar problem, but the following is a transcript of tech support telling me how to remove registry entries which would force a total reload of MJ which might solve your problem.

Ivan: Please unplug your magicJack. Now go to "Start" in Windows and click on "run". In there write ...

Corrupted MagicJack

Hey ya'll... I have a corrupted MagicJack.

It happened fairly recently (just after christmas) I came back to my office and found my computer in a semi-on/semi-off state.

Might have been a power surge or it might have been a failed/interrupted upgrade... I don't know.

All I know is that I have ...

Re: Very Nice Skype Telephone...

Also, is it true that one has to dial the international calling code prefix to make local calls with Skype? I read that to call a local number with Skype I will have to dial 001 + area code + exchange + local extension. The extra 001 is a bit of a pain, but liveable.

Where on earth are ya'll ...
