found this https://www.google.com/voice/about

It sounds pretty good. Unfortunately for me, on outgoing calls, the service will only call US numbers not Canadian numbers like MJ.

Are you in a position to test drive Google Voice and give us a review compared to MJ?
The only ones who may be able ...

Are you referrin to something like this writeup? http://www.bangkokpost.com/breakingnews/137376/google-turns-voicemail-into-email

From the description, Google voice turns voicemail into email through voice recognition-to-text. That takes care of incoming calls. For outgoing, you'll need an ...

How will (might) the new upcoming Google Voice impact MJ and will it be better?

Repeat of Earlier Post

I posted the below prior to seeing this thread was ongoing:

Up until yesterday and today I've been very happy with my MJ. Yesterday, however, it started a trick that I'm not fond of. I can call out with no problems, but incoming calls result in dead air. I find out when I call them back that they ...

Can't Hear Incoming Calls

Up until yesterday and today I've been very happy with my MJ. Yesterday, however, it started a trick that I'm not fond of. I can call out with no problems, but incoming calls result in dead air. I find out when I call them back that they can hear me but I can't hear them. I've called my number using ...

Re: I'm Still Happy

If you - and others - feel that MJ/computer neophytes should not be on this forum, there should be a warning prior to actually entering a thread that we are not welcome. That was not my attitude at all, and I am sorry if it could be taken that way. The statistical fact is that most people find ...

Re: I'm Still Happy

I'm NOT a computer geek, although I can get around one without too much trouble. I've had my MJ for about three months without any problems and have been very happy with it. I'm not really sure what difference it makes how computer "smart" one must be to use MJ or what it matters anyway. All I care ...

Re: MJ over SAT

I am currently in IRAQ in the MIL and MJ works GREAT OVER SAT since that is all we have here. SO IT WILL WORK.

Thanks for serving to keep us free, we appreciate all you are doing.

I also received a PM from someone who uses Hughes Net with his MJ as that is all he has access to. He also says it ...

MJ Over Satellite Internet?

[rant]
If I had the kind of money Dan does, I'd start up a wireless broadband company and figure out an economical way to serve rural folks [maybe using 'whitespace'?] so that they'd have an alternative to satellite broadband. I've used satellite broadband at my inlaws' in rural IL [WildBlue]. It ...

The long delay up to a GEO satellite and back down would kill ya. In fact, the satellite ISPs do performance enhancements via proxy's before the traffic goes up over the satellite link. To do this, they "peek" into IP packets and fake out acknowledgments. Because of this, people using encrypted ...

MJ Over Satellite Internet?

On another forum I frequent, a comment was made that MJ could not be used via satellite internet (especially popular with RVers). Is this an accurate statement?

Got it, thanks. I'm sure there will be a bunch of questions going forward, but so far, so good.

Retrieving Voice Mail

How do you get your voicemail? It says to dial my extension - what is my extension? And then hit star. We haven't figured out what our extension is yet. Any suggestions?

Disconnecting Outside Phone Line

I will have what I'm told is a "dry loop" for my DSL. I'm guessing that - when they decide to disconnect my home phone as I've asked - they will disconnect everything but the dry loop. Is it wrong for me to think they will also disconnect the plug at the junction box as you recommend that I do?

Disconnect Outside Phone Line?

Ok, I give up. How do you disconnect an outside phone line when everything to the house is underground?
