I just used it and it worked a treat ;)
it didn't seem very happy to copy the scrany and instsvr programs into the \windows\system32 directory so I did that manually but it set up the service etc perfectly.
the one thing that bugs me is on a reboot MagicJack Setup says it failed to update... I can't ...

the "fake CD" that MJ creates is a pain. seems to stop my PC (WinXP) detecting other USB discs that are plugged in when the MJ is installed

only on the MagicJack number we get a lot of calls that ring 2-3 times and hangup (or if answered they just hang up)

is this something silly the MagicJack system is doing, or some random robot dialer?

Don't get it on my cell or skype numbers

I assumed even wanting to turn off the flashing lights (or block the adverts in the softphone) was a violation of something.... ToS if not the hardware itself

looks like the problem is down to ZeroConf.... 30 mins into my first conf call of the day and not one dropout

got to the WinXP machine hosting the MagicJack.... because it's WinXP and there's no drivers for the card I stopped the ZeroConf service and hard coded the SSID of the WiFi network I want it connecting to into the device settings (it's a machine that never goes anywhere, the only reason it's not got ...

it may be that.... can't test the machine in question right now, but on my laptop I see the problem pretty consistantly

I've only had the MJ for a bout a week but it's done it pretty much from the first call.

I've run MagicFix and the update and tried a couple of machines with pretty much the same result.
Wonder if Comcast has some stupid heartbeat that's screwing with it?

MagicJack is plugged directly into a USB2.0 port on the PC.

When I'm on a call I get fairly frequent drop-outs where it goes silent for a second about once every 30-60 seconds.
it does it both on a headset and the softphone and also when using out DECT6.0 phone plugged into the MagicJack

the dropouts are both ways.... I can't hear people on the other end ...

Short of covering the darn thing in duct tape is there any way to shut off the glowing light.
Why?
Blue is the most difficult color to have glowing in the corner of the room when you're trying to sleep! For various reasons I've had to attach the MJ to a machine that's in a room where any light ...

I'll give it a try after it's been running on the WinXP box for a while.
if I can find a cheapie soundcard with the right drivers for WHS I'll give that a try as well (seems redundant when the MoBo has the capability, but I'll give it a try!)

Windows Home Server is basically Windows Server 2003 so there's nothing too funky.
Guess I'll move it and try on the other machine... I've put some feelers out with WHS folks as well ...

I have an 'always on' machine with wired connection so I'd like to use it as the host for MagicJack.

Everything installs fine but when I try to call from either the softphone (just testing) or a connected handset I get a popup error ...
