Area codes do not start with 0 or 1.
Try them again. It is extremely unlikely that you would get the same "support" person on the second try.

CALL is the NASDAQ stock symbol for Vocaltec Communications LTD who now own MagicJack.

If you have a Toshiba laptop (and possibly other manufacturers) the XP screen power control is disabled. Screen power is controlled by the Toshiba power saver application located in the control panel.

Cloning is not necessary.
Comcast is not blocking MJ.
What is necessary is that EVERY time you change what is connected to the modem you MUST power cycle the modem. If it's a voice modem with a battery there is a reset button on the back since the battery prevents a power cycle.

If the PC is in sleep mode the processor is not running and the power to the USB ports is turned off. There is no way MJ is going to work with it's power turned off.

Click on Turn Off Computer.
Hold down the left shift key, the sleep button will change to hibernate.
While holding the shift key, click on hibernate.

In my case this problem started when I started getting disk write errors to the MJ thumb drive. My event log is loaded with them. Probably a side effect of the high rate at which they write to the drive. Fortunately I haven't reached the 1 year renew point yet so it will not be renewed.

My power costs 16.5 cents per kwh in the summer and 14.5 cents per kwh the rest of the year. In January 2011 it is expected to make a large increase when the rate caps are removed.

The first drive is configured exactly like a CD drive and the operating system processes the autorun.inf file just like it would for any CD.

The second drive is configured as a thumb drive and is treated the same as any other USB thumb drive by the operating system.

I wouldn't expect it to be too stable. The automobile 12 volt buss ranges from as low as 8 volts during engine cranking to as high as 14 volts during charging.
