It is true that the start up cost with ooma is high, but it has worked out well for me. My net startup cost was $160. It has provided me with good quality service for over three years. I have no monthly or annual fees. I am a former Magic Jack user. I found MJ to be very unreliable.

This hep cat is using ooma. I love it. It has worked close to flawlessly since August '09. I got in at just the right time, so I have no annual or monthly cost.

my prepaid contract becomes worthless if I buy the new MJ+

Not to split hairs, but it ISN'T worthless.

If you don't want to use the old device with time left on it, you can give the old MJ to a friend or relative that you trust to have access to your MJ account, and they can change the phone ...

Thanks for the info.

If you do end up calling MJ support to see if they can remove the 911 addresses, can you update us here please?

The only number that I could find for MJ Customer Service was listed as for billing only. I called anyway, but got tired of waiting before they answered. I might ...

I could be wrong, but I think the 911 service lies with MJ server, just as the contacts list does....I have 2 MJs, one with a CDN #, and the other with a US #. I signed in for the 911 with the US one awhile back when they first allowed Canadians to finally do so, then it disappeared a couple a ...

Is there danger in selling a used MJ with 911 address on it?

I have two Magic Jacks. One of them is active and the other is not. I am thinking about selling one, maybe both, of them. I am concerned because my home address is on the 911 info on both of them, and I know of no way to get it off. If I sell them, is there a danger that someone could have my ...

I would like to disable voicemail, too. This is what I have done as a workaround: I put a greeting on the voicemail that says, "I am not available right now. Please try to call again later. Goodbye." Then, I left it recording nothing for about two minutes to discourage anyone from leaving a message ...
