I have two MagicJacks; one modI and one modIII and they both work equally well with my Uniden Dect6.0 phones. In over a year's use, I have had almost NO problems with equipment or updates. NO powered hubs or resistor fixes have been needed.
I don't know how to identify "generations" of MagicJacks ...

Hi,
I've been using a MagicJack since about when they first came out. My device is now basically dead, and not working. I assume it has no warranty, or it's out of warranty.
I've bought another (actually had it as a backup for some time) and it's never been activated. I haven't activated it yet ...
