Nope, I still get the fax sound as if it's trying to answer. It only does this once then the normal phone ring continues. I can't understand why it's doing this.

I've got a WinXP system, MJ is hooked up to a powered USB hub, internal fax modem, using a headset with no external phone hooked to the MJ. Ok understood. But isn't it safer to have it in a hub anyway? If the MJ is going to fry a USB port, I'd rather it be in the hub than my motherboard.

Still didn't work. So then I tried using Unlocker to detect which processes were holding up the drive - sure enough I found a file that was holding it up. Unlocker took care of it and I could safely remove the MJ drive.

Once I double-click to exit the softphone, I can then remove the dongle with safely remove hardware, plug-in my powered usb hub and then plug back in the MJ dongle into the hub. Is that the right procedure?
