OC ??

Do you mean "over-clocking"? or something else?

RE: drivers - what to check? Any starting points you can suggest?

Give us the details on your computer. If MJ or skype is consuming that much I would look into cleaning up that computer. How many processes are running when you check in task manager? How much memory does your computer have?

I asked my friend who's having this problem, here's what he said:

OVer 90% CPU usage

Why on a certain computer would magicJack be using over 90% of CPU and having terrible sound quality (choppy, slurred)?

Incidentally, Skype seems to be behaving the same way. Any ideas what would cause this and how to deal with it?

Thanks,

I also thought mJ & Skype can co-exist. My neighbor isn't trying to make simultaneous calls even. If both are running then he has the problem I mentioned in the original post, namely:

* On Skype, no sound either direction.
* On magicJack, choppy voice.

Unplugging mJ makes Skype OK & killing Skype ...

skype & magicJack coexist?

It was my impression that magicJack can run on a machine where skype is installed & vice versa with each performing OK. That's not what my neighbor experiences & he's been told by mJ tech support that they can't be running at the same time (not "in use" but "running").

Is that consistent with other ...

what is his badwith? Both applications are competing for the same resources and if his bandwith is not high enough, one or both of them will suffer. Just like trying to use MJ while downloading music.

His bw is 1.5mbps - which is plenty for mJ.

He's NOT trying to use both simultaneously - so I ...

Skype interference with magicJack & vice versa

I'm trying to help my neighbor with his new magicJack. He also uses skype. When both are running, he has problems. Specifically:

* On Skype, no sound either direction.
* On magicJack, choppy voice.

If he takes out the magicJack, Skype works fine. If he kills Skype, magicJack works fine.

I'm having a problem with magicJack on an iMac (doesn't recognize that a phone is plugged into it). I posted the details on the Mac forum here:

Here's the configuration:

Model Identifier: iMac8,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz

System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.7 (9J61)

Plugged in a brand new magicJack - it installed and allowed to register, get a phone number, etc.

However, when the softphone starts up, it ...

magicJack spontaneously goes offline of the USB

I have a new magicJack on a computer that never had a mJ before. Everything works great except for one thing.

After a period of time, it seems the computer thinks the dongle is no longer plugged it. The blue light is still on, but the softphone stops running and when it is run manually, the ...

OK - disconnected all the wires & put them back one at a time. In the process, discovered that (despite my friend's declarations to the contrary), the wire to the phone company had still been connected. We tested all the others and they were OK. So now it works (although there is a very very very ...

Re: Humming when attach to house phone wiring

mj's wire to feed the extensions in his house in its place. When he does that, he gets a humming noise on the phones.

Did he disconnect the house phone wiring from the telephone company service?
Yes. As noted he was using that line for packet 8 successfully.

Also, has he tried with all the ...

Humming when attach to house phone wiring

I'm trying to help a friend who bought magicJack on my recommendation.

This post should definitely be made a Sticky

For the record, I also did not install DirectX & it's working OK.

Also, I solved the driver problem as specified, but it began working immediately after the driver installation, without a reboot.

This post should be made a Sticky so others can find it easily. Great job, Jeepsterguy -thanks!

T5700: driver not installed, USB Internet Phone by TigerJet?

I set up my T5700 according to VaHam's excellent guide. Unfortunately, when I plugged in the mJ, my phone had no dial tone. To be more precise there is a dial tone until the softphone starts up. Dialing on the phone is recognized, but when the call goes through, it only works with the mic/speaker ...
