Transfer MJ time and service to MJ+

What is the proper procedure to transfer service and paid up time onto new (from the promo) MJ+?

I just looked and the official MJ site at their FAQ and it still says it's not possible.

I only get 1 shot at doing this correctly, please post what to do, how to do it.

I just got the offer too. I had told myself I wasn't going to buy the PLUS if I couldn't carry over the years of service I had already paid for. I guess many had the same opinion and they've now listened. Guess it's time to upgrade and buy. $34.95 beats $69.95.

For myself I don't send a lot of FAXes but when I need to I have used http://www.gotfreefax.com/ on a few occasions. I also have a free inbound FAX number through eFax that sends any FAXes to my email. The free # isn't local to my area but that is of no issue for how I use it.

now that the mjp renewals fee going up nettalk is cheaper by 10.00 for canada only as it dont cost to get a canada number from what NT told me when i calld i my go NT now

I bought one and returned it the next day. It's $39,95 a year to have a Canadian number. The $29,95 price is only for USA ...

My home phone is Vonage Canada....got busy signal, could not connect.
My magicjack phone got through.

Not all 800 numbers are for North America. This number is obviously for US only calls. You'll probably never get through on your MJ Canadian number.

I am going to have to try this one day. I have a defective MJ that they sent me a new unit to replace it with and I just never threw it out. It is de-activated but should work for this.

Can you take your MJ from a WinXP machine, put it on a Win7 machine and run the upgrade to get it working - then put it back into the WinXP machine.

I have mine on the floor behind my chair and ran a KVM switch with a long cord to my desktop. I also use Teamviewer, as mentioned, to access the computer from my laptop. I also use that computer for downloading my torrents as it's always on and can download overnight.

I'm using an old computer myself. In Bios, there will be a setting to restart on power restore, or some wording like that. It just means when the power comes back on, the computer will restart.

The big plus of a thin client as I understand it, is the power savings.

Oh, yes, the SIM. My old Tracfone is a CDMA. No SIM. I can reactivate over and over. You did the right thing. Mail to a relative and then have them mail it to you. Now you'll be ready to go. Just buy your top-up, throw in the new SIM, and you're ready to travel. Good stuff :)

Tony, I double checked Pinzoo. They also sell topups for Net10. If you have an old phone of their, call them and ask if you can activate it again if you buy a new topup. You might be able to be up and running before you go next time.

Okay, for when I travel down to the US,

I set my Vonage to call forward to either my MagicJack or a US cell phone number. Now my Vonage can call to the US as a local call (either MJ or Cell).

Now for the question

update - received my replacement today. Wrote them, giving them the serial number for the new unit so they could transfer it onto my account and keep my number and paid up time.

Do you have Google Voice? I believe that it can be set up to show your Google Voice number. You could forward your MJ to GV and then your GV to your cell.

I haven't tried it, but I think it would work
