the beep tone has nothing to do with the magicjack dongle, or the computer it's on.

I tried my SIP info in my WiFi phone and I still hear the tones.

it sounds like the beep tone given when someone is recording the conversation. for legal purposes

Most modern phones (corded or cordless) that have MWI do it like this:

They listen for the phone to ring. If the phone rings, but the call is not answered, they wait 3 minutes and check the Dial Tone. If the Dial Tone stutters they light the indicator. If the Dial Tone does not stutter the ...

I recently read that MJ updated to a 60min auto disconnect on outgoing calls and then quickly changed that to a 120min auto disconnect. Incoming calls are not timed. This is not personally verified by me but seems to be quite the topic on the other forum.

I will make some guesses here. First guess- Your 2 MJ devices have not been previously registered as mine carries that info with the dongle. I plug it into any computer and it comes up with the number and address book automatically. 2nd Guess- Your 2 MJ devices are older than 30 days, so original ...

I leave my main PC and two laptops on 24/7. Chip creep should not be a problem with your model of laptop. I would be more worried about computer temp as laptops focus more on size and less on cooling since they expect it to be off allot. I would keep the duct work clean and place the laptop where it ...

Problems

In my opinion, their are far to many weak spots to use MagicJack as a vital number, especially when they currently do not support porting your number, in or out. I would try the simple things. First, MagicJack will suffer when used on an un-healthy PC. If you know enough about computers to clean it ...

Some have success disabling traditional QOS and using TCP Vegas. Found in latest Tomato and DD-WRT v24-SP2 test builds. I use both but rarely have issues with choppy calls with QOS on or off, TCP Vegas on or off. My occasional issue is rarely bandwidth related so I do not know other than my ...

I had the same problem at the beginning. My problem was the phone I had, which worked great with Vonage for 3+ years, did not work well with MJ. Bought new phone, problem gone. Easy for me to try as my old phone was having problems keeping charge on conversations over an hour. Hope this helps.
