I have the latest firmware on MJ+ I put it on the day after it came out. I never tried MJ+ from the computer USB, I shut the computer off when I'm away from the house and overnight. Just on the phone tonight, it was cutting out, catching only parts of what the other party was saying ...

Absolutely best to use cordless phone system

Get a system with a sufficient number of handsets and charging bases and then you can put phones anywhere you have an electrical outlet and they will all work together with your MJ.

More information please>

Rebooting everything at the same time can solve many issues.

About once or twice a month I find it helps to reboot my modem, router and MJ devices. If the Internet connection slows down.
Just "How" do you reboot these items. I turned off power to modem, router and computer and then powered ...

MJ + will not work except when plugged into the computer

I have spent more than 7 hours online with MJ chat support and have answered the same questions over and over, tried the same fixes over and over and problem is still not resolved. They finally left me hanging on chat when I asked for someone higher up. Here is the situation in a nutshell:
My system ...

Full Service?

Well, I would call it full service, although I guess there are a few more little bells & whistles that you can get with a high priced plan through your local phone company, but it sure takes care of everything I need, or want.

magic jack phone not ringing

It looks like no one got back to you after your last post. Are you still having trouble? You say the program doesn't load, but the softphone comes up and it does ring? That sounds contradictory because if the program was not loaded, the softphone would not come up. Anyway; When the softphone comes ...

Why Magic Jack doesn't suck

1. It is only $20.00 a year, less if you take advantage of the multiple year subscriptions.

2. For that price, you get all the advantages of a full service land line phone, including voice mail, caller ID etc.

3. It fills the need for a basic phone system at a low price.

No, it may not be ...

It's magic!

As of today my new Magic Jack dongle is still working perfectly. I have tried it with a variety of telephones (3 different cordless systems and a corded phone) under a variety of conditions and it has performed perfectly every time.

Did you check to make sure that your settings for the MJ are set ...

It's Magic!

:D
My Magic Jack is working perfectly today. I have had it for years and there were periods of time when it would work fine, then I would go through a period of time when it drove me crazy. I have spent many hours online with their chat technicians which sometimes gave me a short period of relief ...

need clarification

You say you can hear the dial tone and I assume you can hear the tones as you dial each number, but you cannot hear the ringing or anyone answering on the other end. Have you been able to verify if the phone on the other end even rings? Have you tried any other phone with the MJ? How much RAM memory ...

Receiver speaker not working etc.

I have had the MJ for a number of years and it has been like a marriage. Love - hate - love-hate. One of the biggest problems I have had is that sometimes when I dial out, I hear the numbers being dialed, but I cannot hear the ringing and I cannot hear anyone answer on the other end. On the reverse ...

Faxing

Well - the first step is to get it connected up properly, so thanks for the clarification on that. Now, I'll give it a try and if I have problems, I'll have to do some troubleshooting.
Thanks again.

Fax setup

Ok, Let me make sure I've got this right:-
I would have it set up the same way as it had been before when I had the land line phone, except that instead of having a cord from the wall jack going into the "Line in" jack on my computer, I would run the cord from the Magic Jack to the "Line in ...

fax setup

How do I set up my computer to fax through the Magic Jack. I am running XP (Home, SP 3 and I do not have a fax machine, just a 3-in-one (Printer-scanner-copier). I would have to fax directly from my computer.

When I try to use the Fax configuration wizard, it asks me to assign a modem to use. How ...

my position

Mark:
There is no problem with "my position". I am realistic enough to view any advertisement with skepticism (as anyone should. After all, it is "Advertising" not scientific fact). The fact that many people seem to find it as easy as ABC etc. etc. says that the advertising is not any more false or ...

I have the same problem, and have seen a number of other posts from others who have been using the MJ for 6-7 months and just suddenly started having real frequent problems. Well said -

Some say "You get what you pay for!" Well, I feel that I got way more than $40.00 worth out of my MJ, even with problems because of what it saved me. If you buy a $40.00 product expecting it to be of the same quality and performance as a $350.00 product, then you are unrealistic. But if you don't ...

Cordless phone system

I am using a Panasonic KX-TG1034, with 4 handsets and answering machine. Only the base unit is plugged into the MJ, but all handsets work just fine with MJ. Each handset can hold 50 phone book numbers, but they don't have to be the same numbers, which is nice, because each member of the family could ...

Well worth the price

It's not the $40.00 it costs me, but the $350.00 a year it saves me. I wouldn't want to have to rely on it as my only phone but, for what I need it for, on those rare occasions, a little inconvenience can be tolerated. I have it for that one reason only, so if I have to redial a couple of times to ...

Multiple problems - need help

I have a number of re-curring problems that I have not been able to resolve with MJ's online chat support (surprise, surprise).

INCOMING CALLS:
1. Almost always:- To the person calling, it sounds as if the phone is still ringing, long after I have answered and said hello 5 or 6 times.
2. Sometimes ...

Mixed review

As with anything - you need to consider what your main purpose for the MJ is - Magic Jack is sometimes irritating, but it fits my needs and for the price, I can tolerate it's irratic behavior.

In my case, we have cell phones but don't make are get a large volume of calls or minutes used so our cell ...
