Is this stuff still happening?
I was ready to buy an MJ plus for a cleaner setup (have an original MJ running off a laptop for years, laptop is dying) until I started eyeing the alternatives... the Plus device isn't cheap considering I already own an MJ, and with SIP adapters that support Google ...

Its the powered part of the hub that helped, not the 2.0 bit.
Simply because connecting a USB 2.0 hub to a 1.1 port will be throttled down to the limitations of the port it is connected to (ie, a USB 1.1 port). The fact that it is POWERED, however, has been documented to help MJ do its thing- they ...

TC's can be used for other things it just depends on which one you get. Some of the lower end models can barely run MJ and others can do much more along with running MJ. The bigger questions I would ask myself is are you willing to invest around a $100 for a TC that will do what you want. I'm also ...

Thin Client generic questions...
Hey everyone,
Sorry for the n00bish questions, but I'm hoping you guys can help me make the right decisions here.
I'm currently running my Magic Jack for the last year or so off an old P3 800Mhz laptop with 256MB of ram and a wireless 802.11G card in the expansion slot. Its pretty slow, but it ...

Best router settings for MJ quality?
I've got a Linksys running DD-WRT at the moment.
My MJ is running on an old Toshiba laptop, but I'm noticing lately that the quality degrades, callers complain they can't hear me and then sometimes they call and find the line dead.
A reboot of the router usually fixes things, so I'm wondering if ...

Re: suggestions
Currently, I'm running my MJ on an old Pentium III laptop with 128mb over wifi. The laptop does not run XP terribly smoothly, however MJ works fairly well all things considered (however I wonder how many of my little service "hiccups" are caused by an underpowered box like this).
Have you ...

Re: suggestions
I have another TC a 5710 with a bit more processing power plus an expansion bay to take a PCI card. I'm thinking of adding an external harddrive and turning it into a PVR/DVR, but can't find a video card that run with the limited processing and memory in my TC (512 flash, 256 RAM). So as a media ...

Re: suggestions
But MJ does work better with a wired connection rather than over wifi. Can you move your laptop so you can have a wired connection then use a cordless phone to get the phone closer to where you need it? I have the TC in the basement and a cordless handset upstairs.
I thought about that (my ...

hi folks-
I've been reading up on here, trying to make the most energy efficient (and reasonably priced) setup for my MJ as possible. Most of you folks have much more experience at exactly what I'm trying to do, so I was hoping I could get some advice/pointers.

MJ on Linux - Unofficial method?
Like many of us, I'm desperately waiting for a Linux version of MJ (Mostly because I happen to own some energy efficient Linux boxes that I have no problem leaving on 24/7).
I read somewhere here (I think) that someone plugged their MJ into an EEE PC, and it was recognized as a sound device (the ...

STROTHS! Didn't realize you had a reputation here as well as from the PPCGeeks world!
Good to see a fellow PPCGeeks member, and that you're still pushing devices to their limits- I just got the magic jack, and as soon as I heard it possible to strip the SIP info, I imagined using it on my Sprint WM ...

EDGE should be able to clear it, minimal stuttering depending on codec. Which CODEC would you recommend, the G.711μ CODEC that MJ requires or the G.711μ CODEC that MJ requires? If you can't squeeze 80kbps in each direction out of your EDGE connection you will not have reasonable call quality. If ...
