Go with 512mb RAM and a Hitachi 4gb Micro Disk with a ribbon cable for storage. What that you'll be able to install a full or a slimmed down version of XP.

What OS are you using? I think I read with a full version of XP you can increase the RAM to 1024. I haven't tried it although I would like to.

Nice! The hard drive under the VGA. I may have to try that although I'm pretty happy with the Hitachi Micro Drive. I still think you may want to consider some sort of a small fan. That VGA is going to get hot.

I'd like to know how you were able to install both the VGA and a hard drive. Can you post a picture of your install? Aren't you worried about heat? You might want to install some sort of a small fan.

I'm moving in another directions and need to raise cash so I'm selling the items listed. The VGA is a 64 mb with the dongle and the expansion bay fits a HP 5700. Sold as a pair only.

Selling for basically what I have in them. They work as they should, nothing wrong with them. $55 Shipped

The NVS280 comes in both flavors. That's the one I use and it works well.
1600 x 1200 with up to 150 Hertz refresh rate although my monitor tops out at 100 Hertz.

The video is shared. If you want to increase it, you'll have to add in a PCI card.

You can a video card using the PCI slot. You'll have to buy an expansion kit which includes a riser card and a new cover that has room for the card. I added a 64 mb card to my 5700.

It has Linux because that's all it will run. It doesn't have enough resources to run XPe, and CE won't do you any good with a Magic Jack.

You need a more up to date thin client.

I couldn't get FLP to install on the MicroDrive. I't can see the drive for some reason. I chose another thin install named "XP Gamer" It weighs in at 366mb with the page file disabled. I'm pretty happy with it as it has most important features and only 17 running services even with Sygate firewall ...

Most likely one of two things. In the MJ menu, switch to headset is checked or the wrong driver is loaded for USB internet phone by Tigerjet. That driver is available in the support section.

Excellent, the problem I have is that it doesn't recognize my 8gb Sandisk as a hard drive. I have a thin install of XP running on it now and didn't have any problem during the install. I want to use the Sandisk utility to enable it as a fixed disk but when I boot into DOS I can't see the C drive ...

OK, I got it all set up with the Quadro. It's definately leaps and bounds over the stock 8mb. With streaming video, it depends on the source. I'm happy with the upgrade. The resolutions and refresh rates are insane.

[I did mine myself. I only have $80 in the way it sits with a 1gb/512. I use it for an internet terminal as well as hosting the MJ.

Man, (pun intended I see remarks like this all the time. Would you please tell us how you did it so cheaply?

Bought an HP t5710 512/512 from a seller on ebay that was preconfigured for magicJack. Got it today, plugged it in to the wall and the gateway, stuck the magicJack on the back and instant service. Did not have to hassle with anything to get it running. The seller includes TeamViewer on the system ...

This is from the HP site:

- Factory T5720 512/512 (SiS 16MB shared): 36fps
- T5720 with NVidia NVS280 64MB: 140fps
- T5720 with NVidia NVS280 64MB latest drivers: 145fps

Quite an improvement but I don't know how those numbers translate into real world performance.

Thanks for the reply. I got it to work by increasing the size of the RAM drive. I tried to install some other software and kept getting "not enough disk space" errors so I increased it to 64 megs. Might be a coincidence but at least it works now.

I just got a thin client set up with stroths image but the Magic Jack won't connect. I can log in, but that's as far as I get. It keeps saying "connect to the internet". The splash screen after I enter my account password recognises me. I ran the Magic Fix with no success.
