I have been using Google Voice as a gateway for free inbound/outbound calling via favorite number feature with my cellular provider. I believe AT&T is the only major carrier NOT to offer this feature.

I have registered and extracted the SIP credentials after installing the dongle. I then reformatted my computer to get rid of their software. I am now using a PAP2T-NA and X-Lite (no, not at the same time). I have the MJ dongle in a box; hopefully never to see the light of day again.

No, you must use the dongle to register, and be assigned a phone number in the area code of your choosing. Once this is accomplished, you can extract your SIP info and configure X-Lite with your SIP info. You may then remove the dongle and use X-Lite as your softphone.

I just received my MJ. I am planning to extract the SIP credentials and use the X-Lite softphone only without ever installing the MJ software. Can I use the X-Lite to register my MJ, choose my telephone number, etc. without ever plugging in the dongle or installing MJ software on my computer? Thanks.
