yea its a nice concept but the # and * buttons are used sometimes during IVR calls (like your auntomated teller for your bank or when you leave someon a voice mail "push pound to send")
what you need is a special magic jack phone with a voice mail indicator light!!! lol

sounds like you have a slight ground in you phone wiring under your house or where ever your wires are at. if you feel comfortable doing this i can tell you how to fix your problem but if you dont feel comfortable working with your phone wiring and will probably make it worse then i suggest you hire ...
