hmmm

I think OP was talking about using strictly iPhone, and not necessarily his
home LAN.

I think perhaps I am missing something.

I dont have an iPhone to test, but I can use the apple SDK and compile
a copy of siphon with the added code if anybody wants.

Yeah but...

siphon still has no way of retrieving the nonce or callid to generate the new hash.

The only way to use iphone right now is via local proxy.

It seems my friend's problem is back, after a Windows Update,
when he started his system again it is doing the same thing,
and now the format fix doesn't work either.

I submitted this as a bug to Magic Jacks main offices,
so we will see if it gets fixed in a future update.

For now, the fix may be ...

Enable call transfer, forwarding etc...

If you install sjlabs and copy the giga.skn to the mj directory and
rename to (for example: big.skin) you can use all the advanced
features, with a much nicer looking interface.

I figure everybody already knows this, but for the neophytes,
you might want to check it out.

Not until one of us has a Eureka! moment, and sees some glaring hole to leap through.

Right now this is still early.

I wouldn't expect to see an Asterix patch for at least a month.

Hello

That phone is Symbian, on my WinMo phone I used to be able to use
MJ via SIP and Fring, but since they shutdown ATAs they also
shutdown: softphones, iPhone running Siphon, and any other device
that isnt the dongle.

Check the certificates are a joke thread about the technical details.

How to fix crackling audio, constant dinging sound

Note: Not to be confusing with the "beeping" problem.
Or No Audio problem.

This bug happens when you install MagicJack on a PC with NO SOUND DEVICE, and then install sound drivers after the fact.

The only solution is a format.

You woudn't think that would work, but I have verified it.

If we can find a way to forecast the next callid, maybe using the cisco API

It would be kinda neat.

I have used voice modems as voice mail and voice recognition IVR systems before, HAM operators use their sound card as a data modem over radio,
so its not so crazy, and would be sort of convenient, but alot of modems
only end up going into half duplex mode.

I am working on a fix.

Its tricky.

I have noticed some things.

I guarantee you it is a latency issue, too high of a ping rate between
you and the proxy.

The data gets garbled and what it "thinks" are dtmf tones is actually
bad voice data.

One solution? Filtering.

Brainstorm

We need a general consensus on several questions.

Help me sort this out:

We know they changed the way the user is authorized.

But did they switch to TLS or SRP and how can we verify without a doubt
they have.

(Well one way is to make a successful registration using either protocol)

Auth method ...

Fix isnt that hard

All they did is is go TLS, even if they used SRP doesnt matter
the credentials used eventually goes somewhere plaintext.

If you have that you dont need a certificate.

Here is my explaination:

Mentioning about generating your own certs

Why it is BS:

Because your information in the root ...

If MJ were smart

If they were smart they would make an iPhone app, put it in the App Store
and sell it for $29.95 with a year of service and make even more profit.

Since they wouldn't have the cost of a hardware device to hold profit back.

That's just my 2 cents but that's what I would do.
