Just got the new MJ+ 2014 edition in the mail today. What can I say about it? Well. I'm a rather IMHO advanced computing systems guy for a profession, so I wasn't expecting much. I also own 2 of the original MJ USB designed dongles.

Just interfaced a MJ to a Nortel BCM200 PBX switch - Callerid was functional at 14.9K, without an EMI filter in line. Callerid was functional at 17.6K without an EMI filter in line, but marginal with it inline. Both resistances caused disconnect supervision to fail.

I am now using 21.5K with an EMI ...

Take an old phone cord, plug it in to the MagicJack. They make great cat toys that way!

Seriously unless you are willing to buck the system over and over and over and of course you will probably only leave frustrated to no end, buy the new device plug in and enjoy.

That will also fix 99%of all MagicJack voice cutouts both inbound and outbound that are NOT IP congestion/latency related. Had to do this a while ago to get MJ to work on my Asterisk FXO card properly.

Spent about a week tuning my networks. Have spotless networking now, but nothing fixed the ...

Doing this right now with an older PIII 733 laptop, Windows XP Pro, the Magic Jack plugged in and running normally. The phone cord on the dongle goes to my FXO card on the asterisk server. Shortly that will be an FXO port on my new Adtran 600 :) Then into the T1 on the Asterisk server board.
