This situation has been occurring for years with MJ. Calls to some conference call numbers are blocked or a charge imposed by MJ. So I work from home and need to call into an active conference call but after dialing the conference number, a recording comes on telling me the number is a pay per minute number? What??? Calling INTO a conference is no different than calling a residential number in the same NPA-NXX??? WTF ...

I posted on this board before. I used magic jack for about 2 years. Here is my views on the device and service.

First is the jack itself is susceptible to EMI from any other device. It is "not" properly shielded at all. So you will hear static / signals from other close by equipment.

Try leaving the phone on-hook when calling from another PSTN line and see what happens.

Calls work fine in normal circumstance.

Can you try this:

Take your analog MJ phone off-hook.
Call the analog MJ line from another line.
See if you hear ringing through the MJ line earpiece...

Magicjack says my OS doesn't work with MJ. It also says I have Windows NT 5.0. I don't. I have Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1. Has anyone else had this problem? Even better, a solution?

If I take the Magicjack line off-hook, I hear dial tone, then call it from another PSTN line, I can hear ringing on the MagicJack line! Eventually VM kicks in.

I'm having a problem with magicJack running under Vista, several times a day the Autoplay pops up and asks permission to run. Whenever this happens magicJack is not functional. I've tried the magicJack number from my cell when the autoplay appears and it doesn't connect. I've also tried calling ...

Got my MJ!!

Looked over the shipping information and couldn't fine the standard
installation instructions, no CD....

Well, I plugged it in and I guess the software auto installed? I never did
see the softphone pop up?

But, since I am running Vista, I had to perform an upgrade, which I would not ...

Is a Voice/Video softphone in the works from MagicJack?
