One of the quickest and most effective ways of solvings Magic Jack connection problems is to ask "Chat Support" to refresh your Magic Jack.

I just do a quick format and replace my contacts.
Then I am ready to call again.

You will not have any compatibilty issues with Windows 7

If you have your contacts saved....normally a quick one or two minute format will solve error 400

Before you can transfer your saved contacts you have to do a few things.
1) Bring up the MAGIC JACK dial pad on your desktop.
2) Contacts should be empty at this time.
3) Click on MENU and then ADD CONTACTS
4) type in bbbb in the NAME AREA and 2222 in the NUMBER AREA and then click OK

Another idea is to reduce your number of startup programs.
If you have alot of slow loading programs this will cause Magic Jack not to load.

You make it sound like it is an inconvenience, so it must be taking a real long time to load.
If you have alot of programs that are trying to start at the same time your Magic Jack will take awhile to load.

hsweiss is correct.
You should use a multi set of cordless phones.
The main set at your computer and the auxillary set in the room where you want to use your Magic Jack.
This will definitely solve your problem.

You paid for one year of service when you purchased your Magic Jack.

That's correct....don't ask me when you talk like that.

You probably have too many start up programs.
Try to shorten the start up process.
If there are multiple programs trying to start at the same time as Magic Jack you will most likely have problems.
Magic jack is usually the last program to load, but if the other programs have not finished loading you ...

Magic Jack and Skype are not compatible.
You need to choose one or the other.

1) Save your contacts
2) Unplug Magic Jack
3) Turn off computer for at least 10 minutes.
4) Boot up computer
5) Plug Magic Jack in
6) Format Magic Jack
7) Replace contacts

You should only update if you are having problems with your Magic Jack.

Have you copied your contacts ? that is your addressbook.xml file

This may be a dumb question...but have you restarted your Magic Jack ??

Tech support is following a script based on the problem described....I am sure they do not know what they are doing when they tell someone to format their Magic Jack.....

Evens sounds like the same person that does the Magic Jack commercials.

Notice how many time they say the word "magic"

For whatever the reason...you will not have this beeping problem if you use a G.E. cordless phone.

I have tried Radio Shack, Sony, Uniden and Panasonic over the past 1 1/2 years since having my Magic Jack.
