OK, spent some time with support chat, even went as far as having a guy take control of my computer. Did not try anything I hadn't already attempted. Recommendation was to keep the Router Firewall off, just use the software firewall I have.
There must be someway to allow MJ to work with an SMC ...

I have isolated (at least I think) the problems I have had with MJ to my hardware firewall in my SMC Router. If I turn the firewall off, MJ works fine (limited testing so far). I don't want to leave my firewall off though. Which Ports does MJ use? I can set up port forwarding, but don't know which ...

Well, I thought this was fixed after a chat session with a tech. He had me turn off the firewall, move the MJ to another USB port and run the update. Here is is a couple days later and the thing does not work again. When I dial out, I don't hear any ring (or any noise for that matter). It looks like ...

Works for some numbers, but others...
I have a newly installed MJ. System is running XP home. Had some challenges with the install, but worked through the with the on line customer support.
The problem is that it does not work when calling out all the time. Some phone numbers work fine, others are just silent, no ring or anything ...
