OK..makes sense.

Jeepster was a poster on this forum that has a step by step guide posting.

Makes sense.

I'll change to weekly and I am glad I was thinking straight regarding the no commit prior to reboot.

Thanks Again,

Curt

They can definitely do those things.

For file server, just plug in a USB terabyte external and away you go.

Thanks Diggs:

THat is pretty much what I thought. I want to use it for another application related to audio decoding of amateur radio information that is designed to run under Linux/Puppy.

I'll update after I try it.

I'll try that. Yes I was Admin but I hadn't upped the RAMDISK size to 64 yet when I tried the Firefox load.

If I recall, there is a remove script in the ALTIRIS list to dump IE5 also.

Thanks

Puppy Linux?

I have another application I'de like to use the TC for..

I noticed that there are dedicated TC from HP just for Linux, but can I use a T57X0 to run puppy Linux direct from the USB stick?

Thanks

All Working but ???

Good Morning All:

Finally have the TC5700/MJ working fine. I had to add the USBAUDIO drivers list according to Jeepsters step by step.

I also have the TC set-up for a daily reboot via task scheduler. I cannot find a way to get to the task scheduler directly from the TC. BUT, if I log onto the TC ...

This issue resolved. I suspect what the problem was is that I wasn't waiting long enough to have the XP initial start complete. It went to a blue screen and appears to stop. Before I restarted it...this time I let it sit and it finally completed and gave me a MBR alarm which I NEVER heard before ...

That does sound like the right track but I just reflashed this one...I will check the latest XPe numbers to be sure there isn't a newer one.

Thanks

T5700 Upgraded to 512MB APACER DOM

Good Afternoon All:

Well, the RAM problem is taken care of now, but another issue has shown up. This could have been a problem all along as well.

I have a T5700 that is labelled as a 1GHz, 256/256.

It actually was received with a 512MB Apacer DOM in it and 256MB of RAM.

CMOS Setup shows 512MB ...

Hi Diggs..

Yes I would hve thought there would be some memory params in the BIOS menues but there are none there. It just tells how much RAM is found..nothing on type or timing or anything like that.

I have a PC2100 CL 2.5 module coming...I'll see what it does.. it is certified to work in the ...

RAM Spec

If the HP TC is so touchy that the brand of memory can make it not work, why is the best advice in the BIG SICKIES above recommend PC2700 memory when the original HP optional memory upgrade was specified as PC2100?

I know that generally, this would not be an issue. Indeed it isn't for my Dell ...

Ram problems

GE All:

Having trouble with my t5700 and MJ.

All was working fine with the 5700 1GB 512/256 for several months. Then there was a MJ update and now the system wouldn't boot.

So I decided to upgrade to 512M of RAM.

I started all over and rebuilt the XPe install according to instructions using the ...

THanks...

I know how to get it back but the problem seems that if it is write protected, if MJ attempts an update, it cant write and therefore just hangs there. Never know it until you try to use the phone.

How do others deal with the (apparently) random update issue?

The Magic jack is going back to its makers on monday.

After reading alot of these posts, it seems as though the automatic s/w updates are a source of some problems.

I wish I could find someone close by that had a working MJ so I could just swap mine into their system and try it. That would pretty much confirm the dongle problem that I suspect ...

MJ will not respond to phone dialing, and weak audio, echo

Have now spent many hours trying to get this new MJ to work properly. Several hours with several different on-line chat support people from MJ as well. Nothing has made the problem even a little better.

Problems:

Can not dial a number from a telephone connected to the MJ.
dialing from the ...
