BBB
I posted a complaint with the Palm Beach FL BBB. Magic Jack lied to them saying existing customers would be able to switch to a Canadian area code within 2-3 weeks (from early December) and there would be no charge. The BBB then closed their file on it and MJ goes on lying.

no more one time free switch
Not only have they broken their promise of one free switch of area code as well as having Cdn area codes available for existing customers by the end of December, - it's still not available and they now will charge $4.95 for the switch if it ever arrives.

they may have started Canadian area codes for new customers but existing customers still can't get them in spite of being promised in 2-3 weeks over 6 weeks ago. Calling the little gal in India produces pure frustration. She has no idea when it's coming. She says "watch the website" which right now ...

The current website indicates area codes available in both 416 and 647 for Toronto. I spoke to another agent today about switching my US area code for a Cdn area code and she advised that "their engineers are working on it" but couldn't give me a guesstimate of the time.

this company clearly doesn't treat Cdn customers fairly. I have a US area code too and wanted to change to 416. A while back an agent told me it could be done but the website hadn't been updated to list Cdn area codes in the drop down menu.

Canadian area codes
I too was told that I could change my US area code to a Canadian area code except that the website hadn't been updated. I am now told existing customers can never change to a Cdn code. I am further told the only way to get one is to buy a new MJ and then pay an additional $10 per year. What a shabby ...
