my problem is resolved. Today I received a new rj45 cat6 3ft cable I had ordered,and replaced the original cheep cable that came w/ the MJ+. Working great now. I have dial tone and good audio during calls.

The only difference being ( for now anyway) once (if) you roll back and then plug it into the router MJ can't update it until you plug it back into the PC.
I still think that 25' cable you are using to connect your router isn't helping any, which is why it maybe sounds better on the PC.

I've had my Magic Jack from the get go. I have their original one. I used this link here and was able to turn ON call forwarding. No prompts for payment or anything.

I tested it and it's working fine as of Feb 5th, 2013.

I think you are confusing some OBSERVATIONS with complaining.

If it turns out the people who have lost their contacts have NOT received the LUCKY YOU update it is probably an incompatibility with MJ's new database ( they updated it yesterday). HOPEFULLY when we get the lucky you update our contacts will be back, hopefully..

Ive used the downgrade and it works great.. Problem is... everytime I reboot my computer I have to run the downgrade again... is there a reason for this?

Odd enough but I think my powered USB went crazy. Or my MJ decided it did not like the powered USB unit. For 2 days when my phone rings it did a continuous ring. and My contacts didn't want to load. So I downgraded, then it upgraded. Had to do that a couple of times. Got my contacts back. But ring ...

Magicjack has upgraded softphone version . 20091224000005 is the latest software version of magicjack's softphone. Now your call logs and contacts will not saved in your magicjack drive. They will be saved on their servers. That is what they have done in this upgrade.

I had the same problem. The only other thing I did was go to Microsoft and check for and down load updates. The problem stopped.

My guess would be the Buzzer system is not going to work as it should as long as you try and share the phone w/ the MJ and the telco line. Do you have more than 1 phone?
Would be best to have a separate phone for the MJ.

Or does this buzzer system allow you to set your phone # in to it? You could ...

I got my contact list back. BUT I would gladly trade it for clear calls again. After the roll back I had perfectly clear calls( for the few days before the update hit). I WISH I could figure out a way to stop that automatic update. When and if somebody finds a way or they stop running that update. I ...

In the mean time I found that if I uninstalled MJ using the remover software and then installed the upgrade upgrade180.exe
The error:"Warning: Must Plug MagicJack into USB" would go away

Eventually I reboot my computer and the error comes back! So I have to remove the MJ software ...

And after formatting then unplug the MJ USB
and plug back in.

And you will get the magic update.

I dont think the roll back will last as MJ seems to think they fixed the Contact List problem. Therefore they will just update again anything you roll back.. I have seen and done this in the past and I always get updated again to the latest version.

Me too! I usually leave my PC running 24/7 But I got a trojan and had to reboot after removing it. So my MJ updated after the reboot. :twisted: And naturally MJ crashed before the end of the 1st call I got. Oh yeah, I'm lucky. :evil:

I think that is something new. Someone had posted that the download was no longer available. Guess MJ did not want everybody getting ahold of it.
I'm currently uploading that download you posted on a file sharing site (slow going cause I'm on wi fi). The version is 1.80.4992.3499.

I can't download any contacts. Whenever I click on a number that I've previously called, or that has called me, I can't add it in. I also can't add through the menu option at the top right of the screen. Am I missing something?

Everything goes well until it's time for splash screen to go away. At that point I get (in bold red) "Warning you must plug MJ into USB"

I am running Windows XP. Is there any way to remove the update?

This is the reply to an email I sent to MJ which "fixed" my contact list not being loaded. It reverted my MJ back to the 8/1/2009 update.
