The ringer equivelence on most newer phones like the one you describe is very low, but all phones have some ringer equivelence. Glad it worked for you.

This has been answered before, but to reiterate, yes if:

1) The phone network inside the house is physically disconnected from the phone company. Since you're getting a dial tone, it's still connected.

2) The ringer equivilence of the connected phones and wiring does not exceed the MJ ringer ...

Only way to know if it MIGHT work is to try it. But there's no gurantee that it will always work.

The three computers I've had MJ & MJ+ connected to were all running XP. XP will not be your limiting factor, bandwidth or processing speed might be.

If you can wait for Black Friday and you're willing to brave the crowds, Radio Shack has had the regular MJ for $10 off on Black Friday. Not saying that they will again this year or include the MJ+, but Black Friday is only a couple weeks away. Might be worth the wait.

If you have a voltage meter, I'd check that you have power coming out of the power supply cord. No power, usually means a bad power supply, but not always.

I've been getting a memory leak/out of memory error about once a week since I switched to a dedicated EB1006 machine that only runs MJ, printer and my TV. I need to setup an auto reboot to run every week, should fix it, just haven't gotten around to it.

The one other thing I would recommend trying is a powered hub for the MagicJack. I had some continuous ringing issues that went away, when I switched to a powered hub. Everything had worked before till I switched computers. Don't ask me why it work, just know that it did.(Thanks Joe)

Ahkbal,

When my TC worked it worked fine, I've had other issues with it, mostly related to the microdrives. Alpman pretty much had the 5520 figured out. If you haven't made any changes to it, it should work. Have you tried the MJ on another computer? Some of the issues you mention can be ISP ...
