Re: How Do Unavailable Area Codes Get Populated

The point is, I know there is at least this number that is available and not in use. However, apparently it cannot be utilized by either MJ or GV when I go looking for a number.

For our local telephone company, they hold off re-issuing discontinued numbers for about 6 months. My guess is to give ...

....Obviously, it's a personal decision to give up on Google Voice because you can't get a local area code, but based on the cost of entry, I would at least sign up. You could always forward your local numbers to it to enjoy some of the features.

One reporter's opinion.

I wonder if you could ...

Google Voice is Only Good If it is Available

From the reviews I read, Google Voice has some great features. However, if the Area Code that you need is NOT available from GV, then none of those features are going to do you a damn bit of good.

And, it appears if the Area Code you need is not available, it will not ever be available.

I'm happy ...

How Do Unavailable Area Codes Get Populated

Guess I have a basic misunderstanding of how Area Codes that are Not Available today; might ever become available in the future.

Iowa has a total of 5 area codes. If you go to the list that MJ shows for Available Area Codes (Dec 3, 2009 Version), it only lists 4 of them. Naturally, the one I need ...

Google voice invites can be bought on ebay for a little more than a dollar. I paid $1.30 for 1 for my daughter.

I bought an Invite for $1.04, and of course when I tried to get a 641 area code, found that none were available.

So.... right back where I started, with no way for locals to use my MJ ...

Mine came in a week and a half.
Thanks for the tip.... yes, I have registered there, but no invite showed up. I can't remember when I registered, so perhaps it hasn't been long enough yet.

I'm trying to solve the issue with my MJ, where my area code is not supported.

Would anyone have a Google Voice Invitation that I could use?

My email is: [email protected]

Thanks much!!!

Are you sure??? Last I heard there were still GV #'s. IF NOT, maybe someone here has an extra GV invite they can give to you. I know I had an extra one and gave it to someone and she loves it.

Maybe make a new topic asking ( nicely of course) if anyone has an extra GV invite, can't hurt right ...

Maybe Google Voice has that area code for you ( it's free) and then you can have people dial the Google voice number and have your MJ ring.
Just a work around till if/when MJ gets your area code.

Joe Sica

Well, perhaps Google Voice would have that area code, but I have NO WAY to get Google Voice ...

Need My Area Code

There are 5 total Area Codes in the State of Iowa. Why would MJ only provide 4 of them and not the 641 area code?

I keep hearing it is coming, it is coming... but it never comes.

Please add the 5th area code to cover a large portion of Central IA (641). There are lots of people like myself ...
