Go to Control Panel in XP, Sounds and Audio, Properties, and look to see if there is a device selected. Mine said, "No Audio Device", so I had to go to the "audio" tab and reselect my sound card. Apparently when I put the MJ in it cancelled out my card.

My 911 address is also gone since the MJ upgrade. I suspect it's all part and parcel; they'll get it figured out sooner, or later.

I doubt that you did anything wrong. Mine started working just fine last night, but when I booted my computer this afternoon I got the same error message you did about plugging it into a usb port.
