If you're using a firewall or Anti-Vir with user-defined blocklists, block "upgrade.magicjack.com and ""upgrade.talk4free.com. I use various öther blocks and permission entries to stop upgrades, too many to mention here, but check the following registry entry on your machine

HKEY_CURRENT_USER ...

I had much the same Chat today looking for the addressbook.xml..... moved to the servers and is not on the MJ device any more

Sounds like our user experience has just been enhanced.

This kind of thing creeps me out, which is why I don't allow automatic updates to MJ. My addressbook.xml is still ...

UPDATE:

I renamed three MJ prefetch files in Windows\Prefetch to render them inaccessible to the program, one MAGICJACKLOADER.EXE file and two
MAGICJACKSPLASH.EXE files. On reboot MJ created a MAGICJACK.EXE file in the Prefetch, but did not replace the others. I renamed the new file to block it ...
