I don't feel they screwed us... $20 a year for dependable phone service - who can complain about that?
I went ahead and paid for the next 5 years... essentially one phone bill, that amounts to a savings of over $3600, that I will not have to pay, and that's just for phone service...

Still works!
I know this an old poll, but this fix still works. Just did it with a $15 vTech from Wal-Mart, and a MagicJack that I bought in February 2010. Crimped the resistor into an RJ11 connector and plugged it into a line splitter. It also worked plugging it into an empty phone jack, in the same room.
